We took a ride to the lighthouse as my boyfriend had never been there and it was part of his birthday celebration visiting the East End. When we arrived I couldn't park near the lighthouse. I drove to the gate and was told the handicap parking was at the top of the crested parking lot. When I asked about actually... More

We like to visit lighthouses all over the east coast. The light house complex is well maintained and the there is much to see in the museum.

Great for pics...very historical, beautiful! Worth the drive, bring sneakers for the climb if entering the light house.

This is a beautiful state park on the east end of the south fork of Long Island. It has lovely hiking trails, access to the water, the lighthouse and a gift shop and grill for food. To park it costs $8. To get into the lighthouse museum it is $10 per adult. Included in that price is the option to... More

Good summary of the history and wonderful views if you do the climb inside the lighthouse! Parkting fees $8, adult entry $10. Not cheap and the whole visit will take less than 1 hour.

The lighthouse museum has a lot of information and is was very interesting. We climbed the spiral staircase to the top. Not much to see once you get there. There is a memorial outside to the fishermen who were lost at sea. It is well done.

As my wife has a knee issue we did not attempt to get to the top which is allowed for a fee. We took some nice pictures and hung around for a while. The view on a nice day is pleasant. Parking is easy.

If you are in Montauk and you haven't visited the lighthouse, you need to. It is filled with history and gives a look at a time when these majestic buildings were everywhere. The views are spectacular and you won't be disappointed

Okay so a lighthouse is a lighthouse generally ... Yes they are cool and all that but as a traveller who has seen many after a while it's just another lighthouse. What made this one stand out for me is the surrounding natural beauty. Seemed like a postcard to me. Just lovely!
