Museum Village is a living history museum preserving a vast collection of eclectic, 19th century artifacts for educational purposes. Using these artifacts and reproductions, we provide hands-on experiences and exhibits illustrating the transition from a rural to an industrial culture and economy in America, provoking thought and discussion about history. Exhibits include blacksmith shop, weaving, farm life, candle shop, firehouse, school house, log cabin, energy and the environment and a complete mastodon skeleton (only 1 of 3 in the entire world!). Special events include a Gem & Mineral Show, Summer Tours, Ghost Tours, a Civil War re-enactment (Labor Day Weekend), No Scare Halloween, Thanksgiving Tasting & Christmas In The Village. Check out our website for many more events!

Our family LOVES history so this was a no-brainer for us. Awesome little village with friendly staff, loads of fun things happen here besides the tour of all the buildings, the candle making, print shop and old fashioned "pharmacy" we liked it so much we came back on other occasions for a gem & mineral show and a wine and... It consists of a number of historic buildings from the 19th Century, depicting for example, a log cabin with a bed of the time which resulted in the bedtime slogan “sleep tight don’t let the bugs bite”! Other buildings depict the old school days, candle making (a surprise awaits you here), broom making, a printing press which is still used... More

I came to Museum Village as a kid and had so much fun. I brought my kids here and they also enjoyed themselves. The did get to make a candle and take it with them but they do not churn there own butter anymore. The women presenter for the house exhibit was very course and rude towards the children. I... More

Dear jamesdean29, Thank you for visiting Museum Village and bringing your family. We take great pride in opening our doors to all of the families and schools that come here. Maybe your first visit was also with a school. As you can imagine, when the students are out of the classroom and visiting on a class trip, they are both... More

I've been visiting here since I was a teenager - it was an inexpensive day out for a large family. It's a great historical day for kids and grownups. There's also a Civil War weekend over Labor Day, and a WONDERFUL theatre troupe that does productions in the theatre there.

The historic value for family unbeatable - also the theater presentations are wonderful and well produced. We bring all family visitors to the Village as part of their visit. We are so lucky to have such a treasure so close to home. The special event weekends are terrific to.

step back into the past generations and see how they did things back then ..its a great school trip but I liked it most when the children were young and spend time in each building.

Museum Village is about 5 minutes from our home. We often drive by it on our way to Rt. 17N. It is a historical village of colonial times and you can visit the interiors of the buildings. There are special celebrations, such as on the 4th of July. The theatre produces many fine plays with an apple pie a-la-mode intermission... More

We absolutely love Museum Village! It's a great place for kids and adults both. I had to give it 5 stars, because of the awesome place it is. But about the ghost tour -- it wasn't what the newspaper and Museum Village's own website said it would be. Except for about 10 minutes of stories of ghost sitings at the... More

Great place to learn about the early days in Orange County New York. They have a complete Mastodon skelton that is simply amazing to see.

Once again, This year's (2013) annual civil war weekend was, awesome and spectacular! This is only one of the few great events held at this museum, during the year. Always free parking, and a petting area with farm animals for the kids, make this a great day trip.Candle making, broom making, and a visit to the print shop are also... More
