The Belle is a reminder of the past as you cruise up to the Chautauqua Institute listening to the informative narration of the Lake and its surrounding history. The boat is steam powered with modest seats and a great sounding whistle. Food, alcohol and soft drinks at available if you chose, tickets are purchased as you board the boat and... More

One of fewer than a half-dozen authentic steam-engine paddle-wheelers still in service in the USA! You get an interesting historical recounting of the ferries and resorts on Chautauqua Lake, with a lot of good anecdotes thrown in. GREAT views of the waterfront of Chautauqua Institution. . . a really good family afternoon activity!

This was a nice ride to learn the history of Chautauqua Lake. It is only one of four remaining paddle wheel steamboats in North America. It cruises between Chautauqua Institute and Mayville. You can get on in either place and it will take you back to where you started, for a total of 2 hours. We got on at Chautauqua... More

Had a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the steamboat ride. The lake was a little choppy but the steamboat ride was still smooth and enjoyable. Boarded in Mayville and the cruise took 1hour 45 minutes. The crew was friendly the boat was clean. There is a prerecorded narrative to listen to regarding some history of the steamboat and the area... More

We really wanted to get out onto the water, and this was the perfect way to do it! What a nice, informative ride on one of only four remaining steamboats in the country! The cost is very reasonable, and the relaxation and education you get is priceless. Not to mention, getting to see gorgeous gazillion dollar homes! So fun! It... More

This was a nice lake ride on Chautauqua Lake. Downside is that there is no road sigh so it is a little hard to find if the boat is not at the dock, also be prepared to wait until the nx=ext scheduled trip as the boat does not leave unless there is 20 people on it.

A very pleasant way to spend 1 3/4 hours. Good historical commentary. Board either at Mayville or at Chautauqua Institution.

Oh Gosh, I love history and a ride on one of the 4 remaining Steamboats in the country! I'd buy a Tshirt if they sold them on this chugga chugga paddle boat. Keep an eye on Groupon for a good deal on this ride. Bop across the street to the quick e mart for a wrap and bring it with... More

We have been in this area several times and finally found time to take a ride. The boat was on time. We boarded promptly and had an interesting trip listening to a mostly recorded description of the area around the lake. My highlight was a life bird, a Caspian Tern.
