This cave is not a cave at all and the web site is quite an exaggeration. The so-called "cave" is a tunnel that was used to pipe water from above the locks to power a long-gone factory. The limestone cut tunnel is about 20 feet in diameter and the central focus are the gigantic three inch (if that) stalactites dripping... More

I live in Lockport, so I have been on the tour more than once. It it really a nice little walk and boat ride underground in a manmade cave (raceway). It's amazing how it was built way back then (1800s) and that's it's held up all these years. I would recommend it. Then you can wander around the locks after/before... More

The tour was extremely entertaining, very affordable and even better if you let Deb and the trolley pick you up!

We went for the 5pm, last tour of the day. There was quite a crowd being labor day weekend, but plenty of room for everyone, the boat ride had to go in two groups to fit everyone. The whole tour is a little over an hour and worth it. It was a fun activity. Ethan was our tour guide and he... More

Face it, it's a cave and locks, so don't expect Howe Caverns or some sort of amusement ride. That being said, I would absolutely recommend this tour for anyone thinking about it. It is a neat tour of the locks and lock area that describes a lot of history. It is about an hour long and is mostly walking, but... More

We picked up a brochure at the Niagara Falls visitor center and thougth it would be a nice side trip. It is exactly as described in the brochure so we were not expecting anything different. We have been to a lot of different natural caves but wanted to see a man made cave tunnel. The guide gave a great history... More

My family went here expecting more of a natural cave, the brochure was kind of vague, but after reading it carefully found out the cave is a manmade tunnel. We went anyway and had a great time. It was very interesting and I loved watching the lock doors open and close.

I'd heard of the Lockport cave tour and finally decided check it out for myself. Definitely worthwhile. The tour begins with a visit to see upclose Locks 34&35 of the current Erie Canal, as well as a flight of 5 locks from the original 1825 canal. Our guide Kevin was great. Very informative and eager to share his passion for... More

Interesting tour that goes inside a "cave" next to the Erie Canal. The cave is actually a man-made tunnel used to power factories in the 1800's. Guide was very good, and stories re: the work done to build the tunnel was very interesting. There is a decent amount of walking, but not overly strenuous unless you are very unsteady on... More

What a wonderful tour. We are so glad we took the time to visit Lockport and take this tour. It was well worth the time and expense. If you want to have a greater understanding of Lockport and the Erie Canal this tour will do that.
