We were in Lake Placid for Memorial Day weekend. Lousy weather, lots of rain.... Hiking was off the schedule and we had shopped too much already. I saw an advertisement for Evita at LCP and we were off. We attended a matinee that was the farewell performance and had a blast. The facilities are clean, modern and well designed. Staff... More

My experience with the LPCA is that you will do best to attend the Met opera, National Theatre and other movie offerings rather than live theater and dance (both of which range from merely adequate to "yikes!"). There are good art exhibits at times, although there is also quite a range of quality there, too. The one sure bet is... More

This small and intimate setting often has some really interesting entertainment and events. Art shows, stand up comedy, ski movies, ballet and even Zumba occasionally for the public in the ballet room. In the Summer there is a wonderful Farmers Market at this site and sometimes there is a Christmas bazaar with local delicacies.

Where else can you see principals of the NYC Ballet, HD live transmissions from the Metropolitan Opera and National Theatre in London, Alvin Haley and other dance troupes and special artsy movies for at most $25 a ticket? You can also see live opera nights, live local theater and live musical theater and park your car for free.

It is hard to write a review for this arts center as they have changing events. However, I was recently there for the 'Wild and Scenic' film festival and discovered a few things: - the theater is lovely with a wonderful stage and great screen - the foyer was used for a great art exhibit, including sculptures and various print... This art center features Shakespeare plays and has a gallery free to tourists we didn't see the play while here but the gallery of bird decoys was very beautiful and interesting.

On Wed July 4 I attended a concert in Mids Park in Lake Placid NY by the Lake Placid Sinfonietta. The Sinfonietta is a chamber sized professional orchestra that performs in Lake Placid and the surrounding communites. I enjoyed the concert, high quality professional music in a small town. They perform at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on... More
