Made the mistake of stopping there and asked the very rude man behind the "gourmet" cheese counter for something very commonly associated with artisan cheese. He laughed and treated my wife very disrespectfully. I have never been treated so poorly by someone supposedly in the business of catering to discriminating clientele. There are plenty of other options in Lake Placid... More

Please accept my sincere apologies for your experience in our store. In no way did we intend to be rude to you and/or your wife. We do enjoy chatting and laughing with our customers and try very hard to make the shopping experience fun which is why I am so sorry if our good intentions came across as disrespect. I... More

Very cute little place! We ordered hot chocolates, and hot apple ciders which were both great!! They have a lot of awesome olive oils, and vinegars to try I loved the garlic olive oil, and the Italian herb one. But honestly the hot chocolate alone is worth a visit, so delicious, and chocolaty, one of the best I've ever had.

This isn't a restaurant, but a small shop with tempting treats, including cheeses, olive oil, some prepared sandwiches, pastries and the best brownies I've ever had. I like my brownies very chocolatey, not sweet, no nuts - theirs meet these criteria, plus they are very thick so you sink your teeth into them! They freeze well, so you can buy... More

If you are a chocolate lover (as I am) - this place is not to be missed. I tried all available chocolate mousse varieties (Whiteface Mountain to name the one), and they all were perfect! Their fruit tarts are very good too. Good selection of cheeses.

Delicious baguettes and cheese selections. So good we even brought some home with us to share. Definitely recommend, and hope to get back there in the near future.

Being right next to Emma's on Main Street, I'm not sure if that helps or hurts Temptations. I hope it helps it, because this place is great. Nice selection of fancy bakery items (the raspberry zinger was amazing!), wide variety of fine cheeses, freshly made fruit smoothies, melt-in-your-mouth delicious baguettes. The folks running the place are very friendly and helpful... More

I was amazed to find the variety of cheese and nice gourmet food. You can find a great variety of cheese with the tasting size, plus genuine French baguette at $1! I chose French style cherry tart from many desserts options. I would come again and it's great for shopping for picnic.

Nice and clean store with friendly staff. They have fresh croissants and buns in the morning. It's really good. They have good choice of other tasty desserts as well. Plus there is a really good selection of cheeses, honey, and oilive oil there.

My two favorites here, and that they carry local salted caramels......mmmmmmm They carry cheeses, breads and some great oils and vinegars, and gourmet items but I usually go for just the cider, when it's in season, and the truffles. They are to die for! As are the other desserts, that's just my favorite.

I love Temptations. The staff is welcoming and they always have something new. But it is the bread that they sell that makes me stop in every time I'm on Main Street.
