Wilderness beauty. Adirondack history. Serenity. Cruise the pristine waters of Lake Placid in one of our enclosed pontoon boats. The hour-long, narrated tour travels 16 miles on one of the world's most beautiful lakes. See and hear about the stately manors situated along the shore, Adirondack wildlife, and Whiteface Mountain, site of the alpine events during the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. A Lake Placid boat tour is a must for all visitors to the Adirondacks. Rain or shine, it is truly a delightful experience.

This was a very worthwhile and informative boat tour around Lake Placid. We were pleasantly surprised that Lake Placid with its surrounding mountains was so beautiful! The water is clear and clean enough to drink (and is a water supply for the Region). Obviously this is a very desirable place to hang your hat, as exemplified by the numerous Adirondack... More

Within one hour you cruise around Lake Placid, enjoying the views of both gorgeous summer homes and dramatic mountains and forests. The tour guides are friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and local lore. Being out on the water was a nice diversion to a day with much walking around town. This was a very enjoyable tour and I... More

This was well worth the short time investment. Our guide Sam was extremely knowledgable of the lake and shoreline and was well versed in its history. One of the best guided tours I have ever taken. Definitely invest an hour in this excursion!

We loved being out on the water, with a friendly narrator who told us about all the celebrities who had homes on the water and also showed us all the sights. The captain was very knowledge and the prices for a family was reasonable. Parking was free at the site. At the end, you are asked for a tip but... More

Our guide was a long time local who had visited most of the amazing houses around the lake; in his past job of tidying them up and securing them for winter. This meant he had a lot of interesting stories to tell about the various sites that we passed. It must be hard to remain enthusiastic doing this day and... More

It was a raining fall day so the hike was postponed. Looked up things to do and found boat tour of the lake. We had visited the area in the past but never was never actually on the lake. What a great tour! Captain was very knowledgable of the camps and area. Boat had plastic enclosed so we were comfortable... More

It's one thing to stand on the shores of Lake Placid and admire the view...but, it's another to do the viewing from the water while circling the lake and taking in the scenic view of the forest and incredible views of the summer homes surrounding the bay. Our guide was cheerful and knew a lot about the homes. I would... More

we were lucky because the fall colors were peak and perfect weather. This helped move the rating from very good to excellent. The guide was very informative with a good since of humor. The tour lasted one hour and we were able to see a great lake that has little access.

We had a very enjoyable trip around Lake Placid, learning about the "camps" and history around the lake. You are offered amazing views of the surrounding mountains, and "Captain Cook" was quite entertaining. Well worth the modest cost.

Even if you've done the boat tour around Lake Placid, it's worth it to go again. We had great weather (sunny and 72 degrees!) so it was a very enjoyable ride. The guide we entertaining and educational so we appreciated that. There is quite a history of the homes and boat houses too, so be sure to listen when you... More
