I just visited Lalibela. Next to the Churches I had an other wonderful experience. I hiked with the guide Daniel and together with two friends of me toto a wedding of a farmer, eight ours walk far away from Lalibela. Only the hiking was very nice as well, in the landscape around Lalibela with its rocks, mountains and wide fields.... More

Absolutely stunning! We were there few days before the Orthodox Christmas: difficult to explain, just get carried away by the flow of the faithful people. Advisable to get a guide if you don't have many days. More

Having visited all of the wonderful Lalibela churches - twice - and having read about them in the Bradt guide, I wanted more information on the churches themselves and their place in the history of Lalibela and Ethiopia. By chance, I came across the Lalibela World Cultural Centre located on the main road south of the churches, about 250 metres... More
