Having top acts come to Ithaca and no traveling involved is a beautiful thing. The theater is historic, is being restored slowly, bathrooms, etc...which someday will be completely restored. The prices per show are quite reasonable compared to other establishments and Dan Smalls, the talent coordinator has done a outstanding job bring shows here. Now they have even started movie... We've come here to see comedians, Craig Ferguson a couple of years ago and Louis Black, more recently. The State Street a Theatre used to be THE place to go to the movies many years ago. More recently it has become a location for name acts, which I greatly appreciate. If they had more money, they could really bring back... More

We love the State. There are no bad seats but it can get rather warm in there so dress in layers. Also the bathroom situation can be intense... not many choices. Love the State.

The two downsides first - not a large entrance area means a bit of a line getting in, and, as mentioned, they don't have barcode readers so make sure you print out your paper tickets. We were there for John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett perfroming acoustically, and I was amazed by the sound. No crowd noise (or if there was... More

Ive been going to the State Theater for fifty years since when it was a movie theater, then two movie theaters and now it's present incarnation as a live music venue. The last time I went to a show was a few years ago for Built To Spill. But it's still the same old rustic, cool interior I remember as... More

There were some good acts which I saw there including Levon Helm, M.O.E., The Indigo Girls, Bruce Hornsby, Aimee Mann, and The Sim Redmond Band. I also saw a magic show and a showing of the movie, "The Last Waltz". I also went there to watch The Rachel Maddow radio show. It is a nice, old venue. It is very... More

State Theatre is truly a piece of Ithaca history. They always have great music and other performance acts on the marquee and in the ticket booth. I'm especially fond of the Winter Village Bluegrass Festival held here for the past few Januarys. Check it out.

This theatre is under restoration. It is getting much needed restoration. The theatre is actually quite beautiful and is getting better every day. This place gets acts that you won't really see in larger cities. Recently, I saw Paula Poundstone (for the second time) and loved every minute of it. Also, I saw Phillip Glass. Interesting performance. Big Data just... More
