New York stories

Unusual in that we find a source and resting place for local stories which have New York State ramifications.

Working with the League of Women Voters we are helping to increase the amount of information the HIstory Center makes available to the Community. The Center has a wealth of information to share with the local schools and colleges; data used for research that is not available on the internet.

I enjoyed the history center very much! I may be partial as my family helped settle this area 200 years ago

We had my niece's gradation party here. She is going to major in history in the fall so what better place to have her party than here! The staff was so pleasant and helpful too! They have some timeless pieces on display so it is well worth a visit if you are in the Ithaca area!

It is very informative to learn the history of Ithaca, New york. It is well worth the visit and since it is not extremely large, it may take individuals a hour to a hour and a haft to see and read all but it is extremely informative with a very helpful staff to answer any questions one may have. If... More

Spent about 1 1/2 hours there. Didn't take time with the guided audio tour but did sit through the various short films on the history of the earth and evolution - etc. Very nicely done, educational. Staff very nice. Worth dropping in, especially for us on a rainy day it was great place to spend a bit of time and... More

They have wonderful exhibits that change regularly and their permanent collection tells some very interesting tales about the little big city of Ithaca. If you are looking for history, this is the place.

I've been here for several recent exhibits (two on quilts alone!) as well as a public reflection on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The History Center works to show the relevance of local and national history to current residents and visitors. It doesn't have a huge budget, but its exhibits are insightful and well done. It has a gift shop... More
