This was a lovely hike down the gorge trail and back up the rim trail. There are numerous cascades, pillars of rocks, cliffs etc. all accessible via well maintained trails. If I go again I'll park at the bottom and do the uphill portion first. If you aren't up for hiking you can park in the lower lot and stroll... More

Minutes from hotels and the town of Ithaca. You literally are right at the falls when you park. You can walk up higher if you want to get closer but there are many stairs. Excellent place for a picnic, bathrooms available when the park is open. Awesome kids playground. You have to pay for parking when the park is open... More

Visited on a Friday in April. Not too many people about. Bathrooms were closed. The falls look very pretty, and its easily accessible right off the road. The Gorge trail was closed at the time I visited, so I took the Rim trail. This trail is quite nice with overlooks on to the creek and falls below. I soon realized... More

There are several different trails you can choose to hike through the park, and all of them lead to wonderful natural beauty. One of them passes a sizable stream with beautiful rock formations all along the way. There are several falls, from tiny to very large. The trails have been sensitively enhanced with flagstone and handrails where appropriate, and there... More

A beautiful surprise before entering the Town of Ithaca, a beautiful waterfall in the State Park, spend time strolling around the area. A little gem of an attraction in a beautiful town full of the most amazing shops and restaurants.

Nice quiet park. It was a little too muddy to walk any trails. But we could walk to the falls with no trouble. Carry in and out your own garbage. Pets allowed.

This is a wonderful place to explore, and you do not need to be a hiker. I would suggest appropriate shoes if you intend to go for a hike, but you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the waterfall from the base. Our most recent visit was in early April, when the water was moving very fast. It lived... More

Loved the falls - we did a small hike up the side as the pathway adjacent to the falls was closed for the season.

This is the place my wife and I spent our honeymoon. A time I will never forget. After all these years, the place has not lost its appeal.

Buttermilk Falls is gorgeous. What's even better is climbing the trail up and seeing how far the waterfall goes up. I was so amazed at New York's beauty!! If the weather is nice you can swim at the base of the falls. Be weary about what month you decide to hike up the falls. I went in May and it... More
