My daughter and her family with 4 kids ranging in age 2 - 12 met us at the park. After the kids went swimming we all decided to walk up to the "top" (which for us meant to W. King Road. All the kids had fun climbing and investigating along the falls and creek. Beautiful picture opportunities.

This is one of the best outdoor sites in the state of New York, of the Northeast for that matter. Well maintained and easy to monitor children as well.

Multi use state park. You can hike and swim, or picnic and relax. Great for couples or family gatherings.

Was there in December and could only walk 1 trail. Was a cold December afternoon and most other trails were closed for repairs. Will come back in the summer.

Buttermilk Falls got it's name from the appearance of the water going down the falls reminded early settlers of frothy buttermilk. Or so the story goes. Wherever the name comes from it is a place of real beauty. The falls themselves are accessible from Rt. 13. It is a State Park so in the summer there is a parking fee.... More

I have come to this state park a number of times but this year I walked the entire length of the park from Rte 13 to past the dam. Buttermilk Falls is a series of beautiful waterfalls around every turn in the trail. I enjoyed this park and will be going back often.

Buttermilk is on the south end of town, right off Rt. 13. Very easy to reach. It's got a nice swimming hole at the base of the falls and offers a spectacular 45 minute hike that loops up around the falls, through the gorge, then cross over the road bridge and walk back down through the woods. The initial climb... More

Didn't see a lot of this place since my tour was very limited, but it is a must see. A great place for photos, a hike or just enjoying the views

While in Ithaca, we lucked out with very mild weather during early December so decided to take advantage with a hike. We are used to more strenuous hikes in the Hudson Valley, so this was very easy. Very peaceful during our weekday winter hike but it's easy to see why this is very popular and would be crowded on summer... More
