Unfortunately, due to flood damage, the lower gorge trail was closed. We took the rim trail to where it meets the lower and upper gorge trails and did the upper gorge trail from there. Be warned, the uphill climb seems never-ending. Worth it, though. There were lots of falls visible on the upper gorge trail, with mos of them offering... More

When you get to the falls you will be surprised at how stunning they actually are. The one area you can sit and enjoy the view. The one trail was closed because they just had crazy rain so we couldn't hike next to it. It looks like they are working on other trails too.

I spent many summers near here in my childhood and it was always one of the places we wanted to visit every time we came back. Still lovely.

It was a nice Fall. Easy access. You can swim at this Fall. When we were there swimming was closed due to high levels of Ecoli.

The day we were there most of the gorge trail was closed so we took the rim trail which was pretty steep but enjoyed the slightly more challenging trek up. When we got closer to the good falls the gorge trail was open for a section and it was probably the most important portion to see up close. If we... More

that closed the Gorge trail. I need to reiterate to those that said 7.00 per car, well that's A FALSE statement. As I said previously on this matter, and was proven correct on Tuesday morning June 30, 2015, Any NY State resident OVER the age of 62, with a valid NY State drivers license is admitted free to ALL NYS... The park and falls were very pretty. If you are interested in finding several falls in the Ithaca area, use your GPS as they are somewhat hard to find. Taghonnack Falls is also very pretty and fairly close to Buttermilk Falls. We were there a few weeks ago and with all the recent rain both falls were really flowing ...... More

Great sites at affordable prices and clean washrooms and showers. Located close to town with lots of restaurants nearby. Use of 3 nearby park with admission. Nice shallow swimming hole at falls.

There is a fee to drive into this state park and to park your car. You can avoid this and walk in but it's pretty far to walk. There is no charge for bikes. The falls are nice if there has been rainfall or winter runoff. Otherwise it can just trickle and isn't particularly exciting. There is a swimming area... More

Stopped here on way into Ithaca. The Gorge trail is fabulous. Falls drop quickly, trail is many steps, but storms closed lower trail portion. Hiked back up the rim trail, over to the bear trail and back (big figure 8). Later drove down to lower entrance to see big Falls at end. Really nice and one entrance fee per day... More
