Best workout on slopes close to city

Best place close to NYC to train and get in shape for big adventures. Express lift on West side has no lines most times and is dedicated to expert terrain only.

We were driving through & decided to take a detour to see some of the Catskills and saw that Hunter Mtn had one of the highest points but once we got there it doesn't! Maybe in ski season from the top of the slopes but not any other way. There is nice view of Hunter Mtn slopes from the lodge... More

Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl has been the best place to ski on the east coast and has only gotten better with excellent grooming, ease of use, with a good variety of food. They always have enough snow and their reports are true. The beginner area is good and the all area always gives you a variety.

Great mountain with varying terrain and great snow making. Tne staff at the lifts has greatly improved over the past few years and the snowmakers do an excellent job of keeping the slopes in shape. All these guys need is to open more gladed areas

We have been skiing at Hunter for many years! It is our winter weekend home 2-1/2 hours from NYC. Our 2 children attended their ski school since they were 4 years old and are now confident and excellent skiers. We like it here because of the varied terrain and low key vibe. It is a family friendly place!

One of the better resorts close to NYC, especially for the more advanced skier/snowboarder. Good variety of places to grab a bite and nice vibe on weekends, with live music.

I have never skied or snow boarded before, but my friends insisted i tried. I can't say much about my personal issues skiing, but the Mountain itself was wonderful. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the mountain crew helped pick me up and gave some free pointers. If you are a first timer like i was, i would wait... More

Close to NYC, efficient, not expensive and well maintained skiing resort. Very good destination for a weekend family skiing trip. There are lots of Black diamond trails; a few - Double Diamond ones (not really :-)), quality groomed, very well maintained snow. Kids and family friendly. Lots of parking space. Good eating choices. It's not something to spend a week... More

Friday to Saturday buddy ski trip. Having been mostly to the Pocono resorts and a few Vermont mountains, didn't know what to expect. It's exactly what it is... Between the two. Tickets are pricey for the size of the place. Nothing around the mountain to make it a return destination. The runs were well groomed. The six person chair was... More

Rented a nearby house with my extended family and had a great time! Great conditions, good lift ticket deals for the area and my wife and sister in law got good beginner packages to learn to ski! The only things I would complain about are that 1. there is only 1 real good long intermediate trail and our young kids... More
