It is nice to see the mountain change its image over the years from the party out of control crowd. It is geared more towards family skiers than ever before, but enough to attract the die hard skiers and boarders as well. The lodge is old, I heard a few complain, but that is its charm. Everything is clean and... More

Hi Everyone: I had not skied in a few years and wanted to goto a good ski resort that was only a few hours from NJ ; thus I choose Hunter Mtn after talking with some friends and other satisfied business associates. The Good: 1) if you rent) They are extremely organized at the Ski School:Steps Read the contract, sign... More

Would rate it higher - but what am I comparing it to? Other areas in VT, CO, and the Alps? Or other areas within 2-3 hours of NYC? If it's the latter it gets 4.5 stars and only loses that 1/2 because the ticket price is expensive for the amount of skiable terrain. Can get cold and slushy and icy... More

Hunter was recommended to me as the best skiing on the East coast. I've never skied in Nth America before but assumed East coast would be better than southern hemisphere skiiing, but not quite as good as Europe, Canada or Rocky Mountains. The mountain was well groomed although no way the base was anywhere near their estimates of 80-100 inches.... More

I think hunter mountain is great, if you never ski before you can take group or private lessons to learn how to survive in the snow... the stuff is friendly but the process to get the equipment is too long....

Hunter reports a snow base depth of 66 - 130 inches. That's more than 10 feet and more than any other mountain in North America. How could this be? After visiting - found bare spots all over the mountain and only 2-3inches of snow around base of trees off of trails. No mountain should falsify their stats. Its unfair to... More

Wind shut down the top half of the mountain so we were proactively offered a $30 voucher when we picked up our tickets, thank you btw, great grooming, quality jumps and rails, friendly staff, always love coming here.

Felt like spring skiing! Even though it was packed, we had a great day. Nice to finally have a nice day this winter!

Travelled up last week with Emilios ski shop bus. Nice trip up by bus, nice friendly people. Impressed enough with Hunter. Note some of the negative issues in other reviews here. Sure, the staff weren't exactly delighted to see me & my son. You could argue that we were a little bit irritating to them as we were from Ireland,... More
