At the time of writing, the Gao region is generally considered unsafe for travel, due to recent terrorist activity and kidnappings, so before travelling do check out the situation. The Tomb of Askia is very striking. If you have visited Djenne, Mopti etc. and liked the mud mosques, you'll appreciate the architecture here as well. Due to the remote location,... More
