Unhappy, unfriendly, over priced. That sums this place up. Spare yourself and head for Ace. They're just nicer.

We camped across the road at the KOA Thursday through Monday. We went to the mines Friday and Saturday and had great luck. Sunday was supposed to be relax day, but the family couldn't resist going one more day. A little more luck! We had learned some tricks of the trade a couple years previous, which helped immensely! Definitely better... More

My friend and I watched a video on the Herkimer Diamond Mines a few years back. We always said we'd get up there one day. And we did. We spent 2 hours mining for Herkimer diamonds. It was an overcast day, but we both broke a sweat within 5 minutes. Smashing rocks is really hard work. You are only given... More

Yesterday (8/19/2014) we scheduled a day trip with our grand kids traveling three hours away from home. We planned on leaving our home at 8 AM and arriving at Howe Caverns near Albany by 11 AM and after that adventure heading back and stopping at the Herkimer Diamond Mines arriving around 4 PM for two hours of Diamond Mining as... Visited the Diamond Mine for the third time in three years. My son enjoys mining and has found some nice diamonds. Sometimes it's easy and some times it's work, but if your willing you'll find diamonds. The admission ($11) is good for the day so you can come and go as you wish. I like to bring an empty 5... More

We took a day trip to the mine with a 15 and 16 year old and had a great time. It cost $11.00 per person and they have limited equipment to borrow. It was hot, my advice would be go on a cool day because the rocks radiate heat. Bring water! There is a wall of rock with loose rocks... More

My daughter loves gems, so we thought this would be a fun activity for us as a family. And it was for about ten minutes until the reality that you just paid money to slave in the dirt for crystals sets in. Okay, yes, glad we went but you're best off buying a bag of gems rather than mining for... More
