The scenerary down the canal was just beautiful, the water was calm and Captain Jerry made history come to life. I learned so much and enjoyed being a part of the canal adventure. Perfect for all ages.

It was a very pleasant and scenic ride on the canal and actual experiencing the process of having the boat raised and lowered in the lock we went through was especially interesting. Captain Jerry was entertaining in an intelligent and thoughtful way, he obviously cares about the canal and about boating and history in general. I would recommend this to... More

After learning the Erie Canal song in the 5th grade, I can honestly say that I was looking forward to being on the actual canal. What a fabulous tour! We were also on the boat ride that could not go in the lock, but it was all good. Captain Jerry gave so much info, and then told us how to... More

Travelling along the Erie Canal was an excellent experience. The captain was extremely knowledgeable about the Erie Canal and its heritage. The weather wasn't the best the day we went, but my family and I greatly enjoyed ourselves. It was definitely worth the time and effort required to take this incredible journey.

this adventure was still awesome. Upon arrival we were informed that we couldn't go thru any locks as the area just had 30 hours of rain and there was some flooding. We took the ride anyway and had a great time. Captain Jerry is full of knowledge about the history of the Erie Canal and was very entertaining. He was... More

We took the Erie Canal cruise from Herkimer, NY. I really enjoyed all the information that the captain gave us. It was like taking a step back in history. I enjoyed going through the lock. The trip took about 90 minutes which gave you time to learn a lot but not too long to get bored. I would highly recommend... More

We, three adults, enjoyed an afternopon cruise. We are from the area, but still enjoyed the new way to see our area, and we learned more about the history of the canal. Our cruise started a little late so the Cap't could wait for some lost folks to find us. But he made us all laugh about it - adding... More

This is really a neat way to learn about the history of the evolution of "Clinton's Ditch" from a man dug canal using mules to tow freight to the great waterway it is today. Not only do you get a history lesson re-enforced by a passage through a nearly original lock, but also see wildlife and scenery from upstate New... More

Capt. Gertz is a very knowledgeable and conversational guy. The tour is brief (two hours) and filled with canal history and mechanics. Every seat on the boat is a good one. Rain or shine it is an excellent trip into American history and ingenuity.

Just took the canal cruise with Captain Jerry and we had a wonderful time. He is a fountain of knowledge about the canal and its history. We could not have had a more enjoyable experience.
