Always heard so much about this winery. Finally went. I'm wondering what's the big fuss? Not organized well. Bartender seemed bored and didn't say much at all. I was disappointed for all that I heard about Dr. Franks. But the wine was good.

So sorry your experience was not as great as it could be. Too bad you couldn't have visited the winery when a wine trail event wasn't going on because I think your experience would have been entirely different. At these events, trail member wineries are limited as to what they can pour and the events are structured in a way... More

Tastings are free because they know you will buy wine afterwards! Rieslings especially good but so are the various "champagnes". Beautiful view of Keuka Lake as well. If you can go ona week day when they are not too crowded.

We paid a visit because this place make sparkling wine. And we had a wonderful chat with a very knowledgable individual at the tasting bar. The sparkling wine we tasted were great, so we did purchased a bottle to be drank later on our holiday. If you are in the finger lake region you should pay a visit.

I have been to this winery 3 times now. Each of the last 3 summers I have had the please of doing a tasting, seeing the grounds and ultimately buying at least a couple bottles of their wine. The tasting is a great experience, head and shoulders above any of the other wineries. I am not saying anything bad about... More

We had a fun person leading/pouring for our tasting and it was a both a good time and good value. We liked their wines and picked up several bottles. They had music in the tent that day and it was quite festive.

On October 7, 2014, my group of four visited Dr. Frank's Wine Cellar at Keuka Lake, Hammondsport, New York. The wine tastings are free. The gentleman pouring our wine tastings was quite humorous and had a quick wit that made our wine tastings even more enjoyable. The wines we tasted were are above average. The winery is known for producing... More

The Manager or whoever was at the door turned 12 of us away today although they were letting other people in for tastings! It was not late- about 3:45 and we were not intoxicated like some of the people obviously were. And the Manager said " but you can buy our wine"! Buy your wine without a tasting? I don't... More

Thank you for sending your thoughts, however, we require reservations for groups of 8 or more people. That is advertised on our website, brochure and all other travel brochures. That is our policy and the reason why we were unable to get your group right in. Weekends tend to be busy at our winery, so the best way to assure... More

This is the oldest winery in the region, and there were more people here than in any other we visited. We had to wait for a tasting, but once we made it to the bar, it was wonderful. The wine hostess was very knowledgeable. My husband and I shared our tastings, so we were able to sample 10 different wines,... More

Try a tasting while viewing the lake and then bring home some bottles. The wine is excellent and dry and medium dry.

I will preface this by saying that working in the Wine industry I have very high expectations of my experience when visiting wineries. Nonetheless I was very pleased with my visit here. This was one of the must visit wineries on my first trip to the finger lakes, as a winery of great historic importance I had high hopes for... More
