Rhino safari

Walking in the bush with armed guides gave us a thoroughly enjoyable experience of the African bush. We viewed a mother rhino and youngster in awe.

If you are looking to reflect and look within yourself, the self catering lodges near Maleme dam are the best, no tv, no cell reception😂(actually had to go up to Rhodes's grave to make a call!)

I have probably been a bit harsh with only 2 stars but really - I barely saw any Game in this park. A couple of baboons, a fish eagle, 1 Impala and a couple of other birds were all I saw in 3 hours. I did however see Cave Paintings and the most magnificent sunset from the top of the... More

The Matabo hills are 4000 square km surrounding the Matopos National Park. They are volcanic in origin and the granite formations are breathtakingly beautiful, particularly in the rising and setting sunlight. There are many lodges located in the region in which to base yourself so you can visit the National Park or explore the many bushman cave paintings in the... More

So much history and natural beauty- make sure you see the rock art and Cecil Rhode's grave too. What a view from up there! Highly recommend the Rhino tracking.

Beautiful location. I spent a great day tracking rhinos in the morning and getting very close to a large number of them just before going through the park gate. Saw the dam and interesting rock formations before having a picnic lunch and taking a short hike to a cave with paintings. Next up was the world view with Cecil Rhodes,... More

The Matobo Hills are home to unique and often surreal boulder formations within the Motopos National Park. We stayed at the self catering Maleme Rest Camp. The lodges were decent - spacious and with all the amenities you require. We were unlucky and experienced a day long blackout, which made life interesting (sadly, there's no generator). There are plenty of... More

It seems to me that the Matopos NP is the sort of place that people seem to either go into raptures over or thoroughly hate. For myself, having been quite a few times it is a bit of both I must admit. Clearly, the natural landscape is besotting and the human history of the place is truly remarkable. So, that... More
