If you want to camp by the beach, this is the best. We lucked out and got a full hook up spot, right on the beach, at the last minute. The people were wonderful to work with and the internet was delightful surprise. Well worth visiting. The beach was literally steps away, I didn't have to put on shoes and... More

Stopped by Smiths Point Beach one evening while visiting my brother in NY. Live music playing and quite a few people on the beach. Walked for awhile thinking about how large the beach use to be when I was a child. Use to have to walk a mile to get to the bathrooms or snack bar all while our feet... More

Great place to camp or visit if you like the beach or go 4X driving along the beach. You have to be a suffolk county resident but it's fun and worth it if you are and have a vehicle that is worthy of trekking out on the sand.

We visit this park in the evenings. It is very crowded during the day in summer. Great sunsets and the federal side is much quieter. It really is a beautiful beach! Also, you do not have to pay to park after 6 pm.

Not too crowded.. Nice clean beach and great surf. Lifeguards were very attentive. This is a county park, so you need to pay or purchase a pass.

We love to go to this beach because we have a 4 wheel drive permit. This permits us to go to the drive on section and we can keep everything we need with us in the car. We can also bring our dogs and everybody has a good time. The more public part of the beach is also nice and... More

As of April 2013, Most Long Island Outer Beaches are currently CLOSED to 4x4 traffic. Officials are indicating that Smith Point and Cupsogue outer beaches likely will not re-open this summer due to the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy last October. Latest aerial footage shows limited or non-existent dune lines along the entire strtech, and efforts to rebuild the dune... More

A place I enjoyed just walking around. I love the beach and open air of all Suffolk County beaches. Always beautiful and serene. Worth the long ride.

The beach is nice, not rocky. Good sand and waves. Water is fairly clean. Beach is usually clean. Has bathrooms. Its packed out all summer, can be hard to find a spot to sit.
