Very busy and diverse gay beach on the east end of the beach in front of an abandoned building. Easy to get to by bus m22 line from the A train. Food cart in front of the old concession and bathroom buildings have fun and creative food options in the main season.

Not that bad and nice for a short visit on a weekend to get out of Manhattan. The best from Pier11 on NYC side take the Boat and have a nice Cruise to the Rockaway beach, Stay there for few hours and cruise back. Only during Summer time the Cruise is working.

I went here with friends to getaway for my birthday! We went here on a Tuesday just to avoid the huge crowds that are here on the weekends. I must say we had more fun here then ever! I will always go to this beach in the middle of the week! The water was warm, The bathrooms was well cleaned!... More

September in NYC & we were blessed with great weather so decided to head for the beach. Not sure where to go but we wanted quiet and relaxing, not Brighton Beach or Coney Island. We made our way on the subway to Far Rockaway, about 1&1/2hrs from Times Sq. Then realised that Far Rockaway itself is just a town at... More

This was my first trip out to Rockaway Beach and the beach is wide clean and nice to wade in. The only problem today was that the waves were way too rough to do anything but stick you feet in the water. It will be nice when it gets warmer again.

If you need some down time to relax, Rockaway Beach is the place to go - The Ramones even sang about it! Beautiful sand! There are life guards to watch you not to swim too far into the ocean! Unfortunately please be aware that there are no public restrooms at the end where I was. Had a fab time there!

Boardwalk nice. Clean and nice day to spend at a beach in ny. You can't believe you are in ny when at this beach because not crowded, clean, safe cause lifeguards on duty. Overall great day to spend with family and friends.

Rockaway is one of New York City best secret. We have the best beaches and our wild life is really coming alive. We are in a rebirth since hurricane Sandy. There are many new restaurants and night spots. We remain family oriented.
