I believe this is the oldest vineyard in the area and their knowledge and experience definitely show! The original owner was a man from Germany who was convinced that the Seneca Lake region could produce amazing Chardonnay and Riesling. And he was right. Every wine we tasted here was excellent and we went home with several bottles. Some of the... More

I took my friends from Texas and my girl to sample the summer flight of white wines at wiemer on sunday. we got there about 3:30 and talked to Oskar,Maressa, and Jeremy. Since I was a driver "desig" I only tasted the Gruner and the Cu, but spit them both. Jeremy was attentive and gave us special "treatment" This truly... More

Stopped by the winery during recent road trip - I must say that I was very impressed, about the wines anyway, which I expected - but the atmosphere is great, this is how wine tasting should be - took me right back to Germany, focus on the product, not the Hollywood style tasting room. Highly recommended

This was our favourite stop of the wineries we visited along Lake Seneca. Definitely a must see. The winery itself has very unique architecture and a blend of modern and old features. The tasting we had was very intimate. The wines were the best that we had the entire trip. We ended up purchasing a bottle of the Semi-dry Riesling.

As locals we always enjoy trying the new vintages. This is one of the best wineries with great wines. The new tasting room is a great improvement for when they are busy, but I enjoyed the intimacy of the previous tasting room since we would always try to visit during non-peak times.

The staff at Hermann J. Wiemer were wonderfully hospitable to our group that showed up late in a snow storm. From outside the winery looked like a quaint barn. Inside, there is an awesome production area and very clean and modern tasting rooms. The wines are very high quality and flavourful - and we purchased several bottles. Thanks to Jeremy... More

I'm sorry that I just visited this winery for the first time, when I've been going to Seneca Lake for 8 years now. Staff was great. The owner did our tasting - Oscar is lively, welcoming and just makes you want to stick around. They had fantastic Rieslings and Cab Francs. Several great blends (the Red Cuvee was very nice).... This vineyard is fantastic. They take their work very seriously, produce excellent, award-winning wines and are on the cutting edge of wine development in the United States. They're a growing enterprise with a lot of foresight. The property is beautiful and the staff is warm and welcoming, but also extremely knowledgable. I have visited well-known vineyards in Napa, France and... More

We have been visiting Hermann Wiemer for several years and love their riesling wines. This time we couldn't decide if we liked the dry or semi-dry best, so we had to purchase 6 of each that we'll be able to enjoy throughout the year. The winery has changed quite a bit since our first visit years ago and for that,... More

The Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard is a serious winery that feels like a real working farm winery. That are a lot of wineries in the Finger Lakes that are more focused on the tourist trade then on the actual business of growing grapes and making lovely wines. Wiemer is certainly one the ones that is focused on making world class,... More
