4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013 NEW

When we visited there was a showing of National Geographic photographs on the first two floors that represented some of the best images of the American West. The third floor had a collection of objects from current day artists but also had some spectacular objects from the 19th century -- most notable to me were a headdress and a breastplate... More

We went during the National Geographic exhibit. Enjoyed the time spent there. Small, but very well set up.

We had purchased a combo ticket at the Corning Museum of Glass, so it was absolutely affordable! This museum was unique and really interesting. We were able to catch up to and converse with a few tour guides that were not touring anyone at the moment, that truly enriched the experience. By doing so, we learned a lot more about... More

We loved the fact this museum is located in a majestic limestone building ( Circa 1893) and the fact it at one time served as the Corning City Hall and Fire Department. The National Geographic Greatest Photographs of the American West was a real hit.

Some nice pieces but only one or two were really great. Several floors accessed by stairs. There is an elevator but we didn't find it.

This museum would be respectable in a much larger city.. They have a Bierstadt painting, many by Charlie Russel, and several Remington bronzes. I had come for a special exhibit but I was much more impressed by the permanent collection. The facility and furnishings are impressive and make for a very pleasant visit.

Small and easy to do. Nice small collection of western art. If you are in or near Corning, you should do this.

Frankly I went but did not expect too much. Was I surprised. In an area where there is very little to do do (especially in winter) this was a gem for a few hours. Interesting and leisurely walk through Western Art. Very glad I went and will go back the next time I am in the area. Includes a give... More

This is one of the cultural treasures of our region. Every time I visit, I am struck by the different exhibits and the care that goes into planning them. The Remington exhibit is something no one should miss. This is truly the best way to spend an afternoon in Corning.
