This museum is actually a collection of old, restored buildings. The main museum building is an 18th Century tavern/inn. The site also has a log cabin, barn and school house. All the buildings are very well maintained. My husband and I went to the Benjamin Patterson Inn Museum on the day before Thanksgiving and it was snowing and cold in... More

I love the Benjamin Patterson Inn. I have been coming here since I was a child. Now I bring my son to their events. They always have cute little things for the kids to make and do. Our favorite event is the Wingblinger they hold every fall. I do think you are better off going when they have a special... More

While in Corning, in addition to the world renowned Corning Museum of Glass, both the very nearby Benjamin Patterson Inn and Rockwell Museum of Western Art are well worthwhile seeing. The also proximate Finger Lakes are most scenic, with lots of side trip options.

We have enjoyed going to the Benjamin Patterson Inn with our kids. Their museum is a true to life representation of yesteryear. With a working blacksmith shop and a one room school house, families get a peek into what life was like. Definitely go during Wingblinger at the beginning of September!

What a surprise this museum was. Our guide was very informative and pleasant. She did not rush through the buildings. She was very knowledgeable about the time period and the way life would have been lived. She took the time to answer all our questions and allowed us to look at all the items that we wanted. Thank you for... More

Great place to learn about some of the history of the Corning area. Very educational for children as there are many ways for them to actually see how people lived and the way they did things over 100 yrs ago. Good displays and knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit. Have been there several times and still enjoy each visit.
