Excellent value for the money. Very informative. Length of tour, perfect. Learned a lot about the area with out feeling like I was sitting in a lecture, and, there was a lot of quiet peaceful time to take in the scenery with out chatter. Beautiful spot, so nice to see the lake this way.

We stayed at the Lake Front Hotel in Cooperstown and received one free boat ride on the Glimmerglass Queen. Otsego Lake was once known as Glimmerglass and was featured in James Fenimore Cooper's novels The Pioneers and The Deerslayer. The nine mile long lake is located in Otsego County, New York and is the source of the Susquehanna River. Our... More

This was a very pleasant one-hour boat ride. We especially liked that the first 15 minutes or so was narrated, telling us about the area we were seeing, and then the commentary ended. Often boat trips in tourist areas have endless, mostly silly commentary which gets annoying. This was interesting and informative but also not excessive. The trip itself was... More

The lake is beautiful, the scenery around it too. The narative is only for the beginning of the trip and informative. Then the captain stops talking and you just enjoy a relaxing trip. There is plenty of seating inside and out and very comfortable. There is a small bar serving alcoholic and virgin drinks as well as coffee with someone to... More

We actually came a day early so we could do the boat ride. Motel gave 1 free ticket for boat. Ride lasted 1 hour and traveled half the length of the lake. First few minutes the captain narrated and then you could just enjoy the ride. Was surprised to learn that this lake is the start of the Susquehanna River.

I've read some of the somewhat negative reviews and I really don't know what some people expect. Cooperstown is a small, quaint town, tucked back in time (even though it's full of baseball souveniers), but you get the feeling of going back in time. The Glimmerglass Boat Tour is just one more thing that takes you back to the simpler... More

Newer boat with comfortable seating. Great views. You need cash and they only sell tickets if there are 10 or more people interested in your trip time. Nice staff. Parking is on top of the hill not down by the dock. Not much parking.

We took an hour long boat tour of the lake on a platoon boat. IAs we went up the lake the guide told us about the history of the lake and surrounding areas.

Beautiful lake from shore, nice boat but there's no need to be on the lake tour beyond the first 15 minutes. The last 45 minutes are simply views of what seems to be the same group of trees. The Kingfisher Tower was interesting but not worth an hour or $16 for the trip. One word ... boring.

Yes, this is just a boat ride, but it is a nice way to spend an hour or so relaxing, catch a few rays and just chill out. Cooperstown offers a lot to do and see, time relaxing is rewarding. Beverages (yes, legal beverages are available) and snacks are available. There is something about open water and wind in your... More
