It is not often that you can tour a historic building, hike a long wooded trail, swim with beach and play basketball in the same park but all that and more is available at Glimmerglass State Park. We only took advantage of the approx. one hour loop hike but what a great park. Hyde Hall is on the property to... More

It was clean and well-maintained, but like most Upstate NY beaches/sand, the lake was only fairly clean and the sand felt gritty.

After our visit to the Baseball Hall of fame in Cooperstown we headed toward Albany. We made a spontaneous stop at the Glimmerglass State Park. We were glad we did. The views of the lake were very nice and the attendant let us in free--as a senior rate. The normal rate is $7 per car. There were lifeguards on duty... More

The state has made many upgrades during the past year to the parking lot and side walks, and are now in the process of building a new playground. The park has always had clean restrooms and well cared for landscapes around the large sandy beach. The water quality is always posted and clean. The only draw back is the amount... More

Beautiful lake views and good for a dip in the water under the eye of lifeguards. Nice facilities for little kids to play and for washrooms. $7 for the day is OK if you are looking to just sit on the side of the lake while the kids wade in waist deep water. Note that fishing is allowed everywhere but... More

I tent camped here for two nights while on a three week motorcycle trip. The campgrounds are well maintained and the restrooms/showers are clean. I give it a 4 out of 5 because the quiet hours were not enforced.

Caught off guard by the $7 to enter because we were just looking for a place to walk while passing some time between baseball games. However, the park ended up being a pleasant surprise. They had several trails and a very nice public beach on Lake Otsego. The public beach had a small convenience store and food place. We walked... More

Small park but the beach and the water were clean! Loved the covered bridge and the story. They have a little store with food and t-shirts. The bathrooms were clean.

Our team that played at Cooperstown Dreams Park was unfortunately eliminated in their 8:30 am game so 40 of us headed out to Glimmerglass State Park. It is just $7/car load. We brought canned beer, sodas, waters, snacks, etc. We had camping chairs or beach chairs. Kids played wiffle ball and other games and we swam for hours. The water... More
