Glimmerglass mounts four new productions a summer and presents them in its own, beautiful opera house a few miles from Cooperstown. In addition to some of the best known professionals, the productions introduce young American singers of amazing talent. My husband and I, ardent opera-goers, have been going to Glimmerglass every summer for some 20 years - a testament to... More

What a treat to enjoy world class opera (and Broadway Musicals) in such informal and comfortable settings. Good acoustics remind us what live performance was like without amplification. The gifted performers are so good at articulation that the supertitles are almost superfluous. Established singers who will sing at the Met in winter are here with future divos and divas in... More

Went once to the Glimmerglass Opera. What a terrific experience. The setting is gorgeous; the sound in the hall was fantastic, and the opera was terrific. I highly recommend it.

We're spoiled forever for Madame Butterfly, simply spectacular. All three operas this season have outstanding casts; the performers not only sing to perfection, their acting skills are unsurpassed. If you're lucky you can also attend some of the Young Artists special events. It's early in the season, you have time to get tickets.

The atmosphere is relaxed but opera is taken quite seriously and is first rate all the way...from singers to stage direction to orchestra to maestri. There are picnic grounds all around the place. I noticed a golf card being used to help physically disabled guests get from parking to the opera house. The opera house itself is a 900 seat... More

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We are glad you appreciated the quality of our productions! Since our theater is not climate controlled, we do recommend dressing for comfort. We hope to see you again in 2015 for our 40th anniversary! -Brittany More

We had a box and saw Madame Butterfly. Traveled 2,000 miles for this to celebrate my 60th birthday and it was worth it! Lovely staging, exquisite singing, lots of weeping (on my part). Thank you Puccini. Very festive and pleasant country atmosphere abd intimare house.

We saw Madame Butterfly during a Sunday matinee and found the entire experience to be wonderful! Free parking, plenty of space to picnic before the show were great. The preview (available before every show) was very informative and entertaining. This one was led by the conductor. The stage scenery was minimalist, but the talent was extraordinary. Could not imagine a... More

I attended the dress rehearsal of MADAMA BUTTERFLY last evening, and would like to suggest that all opera lovers come up to COOPERSTOWN to see this marvelous production. Wonderful singers, and a well thought out production. Quite different from others, but still maintaining all the elements we love in BUTTERFLY. I was really impressed and I confess to having seen... Beautiful setting for an opera house! Great choice of operas every summer! Parking is right next to opera house. On the shore of a beautiful 9 mile long natural lake near the village of Cooperstown.
