Don't miss Glimmerglass Opera and its other selections during the summer. The facility is outstanding and the quality of the performance, talent, set and all is brilliant.

I've waited way too many years to attend my first opera, 'The Magic Flute' at Glimmerglass. I was not disappointed! Small, intimate venue (less than 1000 seats) comfortable with not a bad seat in the house, IMHO. Tickets are expensive ($122 for orchestra) but you don't have to pay for parking! Dress lightly as there is no air conditioning. The... More

Thank you for your very helpful review! Yes, ticket prices range from $26 to $144, and prices are lower in July. The company also offers several discounts -- educator, military, senior, subscriber, youth, etc. We are so glad you enjoyed your experience and look forward to welcoming you back! More

So this is grand opera! No wonder people love it. We saw the production of Candide, and it was one of the best theatrical experiences I've ever had. Stunning production values, amazing voices (especially Kathryn Lewek at Cunegonde), wonderful acting, not a thing out of place. We have wanted to come to Glimmerglass for years, and this was the perfect... More

My wife and I recently enjoyed a special evening at the opera. Glimmerglass Opera is located in a country Setting just beyond the charming village of Cooperstown. The opera house is built to remind you of a barn. Movel use of motorized walls allows this summer venue to be open to the breezes or closed as necessitated by the weather... More

A wonderful festival which my wife and I have attended on a few occasions. The four operas are always diverse and progressive. The singers are nearly all young and on the way up. Their energy is contagious and of high quality. The show that we were wary of turned out to be the hit of the week for us.

The setting for Glimmerglass is perfect for a summer getaway. In the rolling hills of the Leatherstocking district of NY State. The music is great and there are pre-opera talks. There is no air conditioning in the building which adds to the summer experience. We saw Candide and Trouble in Tahiti and enjoyed the afternoon.

I've done my time in summer stock, and napped on the lawn at Tanglewood. Glimmerglass is more than worth the trip. Best in class. Cooperstown itself and restaurants are a bit of a hike, but it's a ride down along the lake, and make sure you stay someplace with a view.

If you have difficulty walking to the opera house from the grassy parking area for disabled guests, there is now a complimentary shuttle service, with the shuttles driven by delightful young women in an internship program. There are also a covered concession stand and a gift shop, welcome additions this season. Four operas are performed each season and it is... More

Glimmerglass is wonderful. A small (900 seat) opera house at the opposite end of Otsego Lake from Cooperstown. Terrific opera performances and a wonderful orchestra. Don't miss the pre-opera talks an hour before curtain time. They're informative and informal and not the least bit intimidating to those who aren't opera mavens. Modestly priced snack shop on the grounds makes good... More

I love going each August to the Glimmerglass Festival. It is time worth spending with sublime productions, most interesting talks on opera and culture, and a most welcoming, courteous, and helpful staff. Plus, the Cooperstown area is so serene,
