Intimate opera with world class performances in a small setting where you almost feel it is being performed just for you. Set on Otsego Lake outside Cooperstown NY, the setting couldn't get more beautiful!

This theatre is truly "indoor-outdoor". It has retracting side walls that give the theatre an outdoor breezy feeling; but can be closed to keep out the elements when needed. There is NOT a bad seat in the house. That over used statement is 100% true enough with the Glimmerglass Opera Theatre. Enjoy some amazing performances in the countryside of rural... More

I always enjoy Glimmerglass. Easy parking, great grounds to walk around, and now boxed lunches that are very tasty. The wine and beer menu are very expensive and the selections are poor so bring your own. The opera building itself it fabulous and there is not a bad seat in the house. It was chilly that night and fortunately they... More

The quality of the performances and setting is unbelievable. Excellent staging. Best of all, the scene is low key.. so the focus is the performance, not what you are wearing. Gets cool at night,so bring a jacket!

We had two front row center seats on closing night to see Nathan Gunn in "Camelot." However, every seat in this more intimate theatre appeared to be a good one, none being more than 70 feet away from the stage. The cast and production were excellent and lavish. We liked the opportunity to have an informal question and answer period... More

Intimate and acoustically sound there are nothing but good seats. Can get a bit warm at time. Productions are professional, performers excellant and you get to go to rehearsals and meet the cast

My first act after receiving my copy of the program, is to turn to the back page where I will learn a what next year's operas will be. Every year, as we leave Glimmerglass Opera, I try to not consider that we will not return the next year. Although we live 700 miles away, this year I made a commitment... More

My husband and I are opera lovers. The experience of attending performances at Glimmerglass is always uplifting and enjoyable. When we skip a year, I really miss it.

I have been attending Glimmerglass opera for 16 years and every year I look forward to it more than any other opera event. The program is varied usually intermixing lighter fare operas or musicals with traditional opera. What I particularly appreciate is that they are adventurous and will do rarely performed operas. Glimmerglass will use younger opera singers along with... More

My wife and I are Wagnerians. In some ways, Glimmerglass reminds us of Bayreuth. There are similarities in the layout of the two buildings, as it happens, but I think the main reason is something to do with the relative inaccesibility of both places. There's a sense of pilgrimage when you go there. A few years ago, in 2008, we... More
