The highest mountain in the Catskills, but not the most difficult. My son first hiked Slide when he was 7. A great family activity. More

I have climbed Slide Mountain many times over the past 57 years, first making the trip in 1953 as a 9 year old. I remember the last fire tower well, and the view from that tower were spectacular. Apparently only Cole Mtn (which is behind Hunter Mtn is not visible from this loft perch) The hike is billed as having several vista points before finally emerging past the true summit... More

At times, it was difficult to go on (because I wasn't used to hiking) but over coming the fatigue made it more exhilerating! I've been wanting to do it again ever since!... More
