Both courses are well maintained. Split Rock is more challenging - interesting holes, more hills, and longer par 4's. Heads up - bring mosquito spray for Split Rock.

I recently played Split Rock and really liked it. It played long with plenty of challenges to make you think about how to set up your play. The course was in a great shape and the greens rolled well (at like an 8). I liked this track much better than Van Cortlandt. I look forward to playing Pelham Bay next... More

Split Rock is where i had my first and only Eagle, so it brings back good memories. You have tee-off early in the morning there on weekends, otherwise it will certainly be a 5-hour round. Not ideal. But the course is challenging and really good for a public course in the NY metro area. I highly recommend it.

There are 2 courses at this complex - Split Rock being the hardest and very difficult / Pelham being more playable. However, there are often openings on both sides during the weekdays - and the decision to play them should be solely based on asking about the greens. The green conditions can go from okay to horrible - not bad... More

Big improvement in recent years, still more to do, on the course, Heading in the right direction, well done in that regard. Food and Drinks, are a little pricey.

i have played many courses in this area but none are as nice as these two. very easy to get a tee time a very reasonable greens fees..especially for seniors. the courses are well maintained and the fairways are tree lined like all the more mature courses such as these. the layout on both of the courses are great and... Split Rock is an amazing course if you are a lower handicap golfer. One memorable hole reminds me of Pebble Beach with baranca stretching across the fairway. Great practice area for short game and nice restaurant for lunch or a snack. Large parking lot as well and you can park for free if you tell the attendant you will to... More

Actually there are two separate courses, and both are worthwhile. The courses are very well-maintained, the staff is pleasant and friendly and seriously helpful, the pro shop is small but well equipped, food at the snack bar is good, and for an outing, the catering service is extraordinary. And this is a PUBLIC course, only about 20 minutes from downtown... More
