We visited as part of a tour of New York City and this came as a big surprise. We certainly did not expect such a beautiful tranquil spot with a lovely old mansion and accessory buildings overlooking the Hudson so close to the city. The gardens were well kept, and we spent a relaxing half hour on the terrace of... More

Wavehill is beautiful year round but when the trees are in bloom and the spring flowers like daffodils etc come out it is absolutely magical. Magnolias were blooming last weekend and we will be back this weekend to see them fully bloomed. The kids also love the family art project (every sat/sun 10-1), it is a nice activity especially on... Wave Hill has it all, beautiful views, historical meanderings, room for the kids to roam and, even, a place to get a bottled water and coffee. Bring your most comfortable shoes as it is "hilly" and can get "chilly" by the Hudson. Fall is a favorite time of the year but I love Wave Hill in the summer when the... More

Wave Hill doesn't rank among the largest or best-known gardens and parks in New York City, but it may well be the most special. Located on the Hudson River in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, Wave Hill offers indoor and outdoor gardens, an art gallery, a nice gift shop, a mansion that was once the home of many notables,... My family and I love spending the day here. Bring a picnic or buy one on the grounds and spend a few hours exploring. Come with friends.

was there in late June 2013 and still cant forget it. the main garden was in full bloom, the variety of plants was enormous, and every plant looked its best. a group of volunteers (some not so polite!) was weeding and taking care of the garden and deigned to answer a question, but i didnt let their attitude destroy the... This was my first visit to Wave Hill and I was really impressed. It is a most delightful garden with high quality planting and maintenance and sufficient variety of habitat to allow a great diversity within its plant collections. With great views across the Hudson, plenty of open space for relaxation and a good cafe, Wave Hill makes a good... More

We just moved to Riverdale for my job and every realtor we spoke with said we had to check out Wave Hill. We were not disappointed. We went over Labor Day weekend. The gardens were all gorgeous, the views over the Hudson were spectacular. Absolutely worth the $8 admission. You can walk as much as you'd like, or just hang... More

I lived in the Bronx for 21 years and never visited before. The 28 acre estate has short hiking trails and on certain weekends activities for children under 7 . The manor houses have art work on display and many times small but very talented music ensembles. Check their web site for details. The day we visited the fall colors... More
