Awesome zoo! Saw a male tiger up close and personal. Also saw a polar bear and grizzly. Best of all was seeing a bald eagle so close I could not believe it. This simply is one of the best experiences you can have in NYC. No other zoo (with the exception of San Diego) compares. The food is pricey so... More

Just returned from a fun visit to the zoo with my two grand kids in tow (ages 4 and 6). The exhibits are well done, the grounds lovely, and we happened upon a gorgeous spring day. On the way to the zoo my grandson said he was looking forward to seeing the dinosaurs. We assumed he had the zoo mixed... More

I just visited the zoo with my tween daughter. It's been 20 years since my last visit. It was sad to see a third rate zoo which is still on the decline. The young lions and the gorillas were, by far, the highlights. It was frustrating that many animals could not be viewed on the overcast day. Most pathetic was... More

We met up with some friends at the zoo for a chilly March visit, 4 kids in all (ages 1, 4, 8, 10). We took the subway from the city (visiting for a week), they drove from further upstate. All really enjoyed the zoo. The day we went (Wednesday), you could donate what you wished for entrance, or pay for... More

Questionable forecast must've kept locals away, but we were undeterred by the possibility of rain. As a result, we had the place nearly to ourselves for the majority of the day. By the time the sun came out mid-day, we had seen a lot of the zoo without having to jockey for viewing positions. Adjust your expectations, however, as many... More

If you plan to be in the begin in the neighborhood for a while and you have spare days then you must come its great for all ages. I recommend after April because they open all the activities we came in March and a lot of animals where kept inside and also some attractions closed. The animals look healthy and... More

Fairly brief visit on a cold but sunny day, so some animals well "hidden". Enclosures seemed spacious. Lots of written information. World of birds very well presented. Tigers and rhinos impressive. Sea lion feeding time great fun. 2 young granddaughters loved the Bug Carousel. Hope to spend longer there on next visit, without the snow!

Possibly the best zoo in the world, especially since it is in a huge city. The exhibits are wonderful, and the quarters for the animals are very good, lots of room and very natural surroundings.

We go to the Bronx Zoo as a multi-generational family that has different interests and stamina. First, there is usually free parking available in Southern Blvd. close to the Zoo entrance. We arrive early and have a relaxed pace since there is a lot of animals in their ecosystems to enjoy. We take drinking water and food so that we... More

I visit a zoo in every country I go to and the Bronx zoo is by far the best zoo I have been to. The animals are in large stimulating enclosures and there is so much to see. If you go I the winter/sub zero don't expect to see any of the African animals as they are all shut away... More
