Found this place having spent the previous evening in Tucumcari at the Blue Swallow. We are both photographers and never like to photograph without permission. Gary said "make yourself at home" and he really meant it, The place is like an Aladdin's cave. So much wonderful Route 66 memorabilia. Gary does an excellent job here trying to keep alive a... More

I encourage you to make this place one of your stops while in Tucumcari! Mr. Cardwell has awesome antiques! He is a great conversationalist....A nice guy. You could go to this business several times and still not see everything!

Going from Arizona back to NY we decided to travel parts of Rt 66. Great time and this was a highlight. It was wonderful talking to Gary, and he didn't seem to mind that we were New Yorkers. His shop was packed with memorabilia and he shared with us stories of how some of it came to him. Definitely a... More

This place is so neat! It has so many interesting things and history associated with them. Gary was great. He talked to us like we have known him forever. His insight helped alot with us being traveling medical professionals. He also recommended a few other places that we definitely checked out on the way back to Texas. Thanks Gary for... More

My husband and I are traveling Route 66 and stopped by here! Gary, the owner is great to talk with. He chatted with us like we were long time friends. He also gave us some tips for our road trip! This place also has some awesome original gasoline, automotive, and Route 66 memorabilia! We would definitely stop by here again!

Tucumcari has a wealth of hidden gems full of surprising finds, but the Tucumcari Trading Post is at the top of the list! The outside looks like a Route 66 museum and makes an excellent location for the much needed selfies to document you travels and adventures. Inside you will find everything from vintage cowboy hats, taken "right off the... More

Gary was awesome! A must see when traveling on I-40 to see a bit of the old Route 66. A nice break from interstate driving. So much to see, we got some great pics.

Enjoyed this store--owner seemed nice, with many cats roaming inside and outside of the store--he also seemed cynical about the whole push for antiques.

During our recent visit to Tucumcari to see some of Historic Route 66 we stopped by the Tucumcari Trading Post. We had the pleasure if meeting the owner, Gary, and his sweet dog, Misty. This store has a nice selection of Route 66 memorabilia as well as antiques and other goodies. We also got a recommendation for the best place... More
