Well worth the time

Surprising variety and quantity of things to see. Wide range of interests, lots of history and culture of early New Mexico.

It was interesting to see the history not much to it. The curator Wes interested in selling the vehicle. Which were in impeccable condition and all original.

From the outside this looks like a pretty interesting place to visit. I got there about 10 minutes before closing, and said I was just going to walk around the grounds and take some photos. However, whoever was in charge adamantly told me I could not do that, she needed to leave right now! Don't know why they have hours... More

This is a very interesting little museum with artifacts detailing the rise (and fall) of Tucumcari, from the early days of the railroads and pre-route66 to the departure of the railroads and the building of I 40. This museum is packed full of all kinds of historical items. It is much bigger than it appears from the street. Kids of all ages would enjoy it. In the back there is an old playground that was taken from some local park and restored...totally for active kids.

An interesting museum just off Rte 66. Plenty of artifacts and information about the history of the local area. Good value. Friendly, knowledgeable staff.

By chance I stopped in Tucumcari as I was sick and need treatment. What a great surprise to visit history of era's gone by. The end of the railroad in the town and new highway 40 happening about the same time. But the museum was rich in color and history. Very interesting but sad as well to see the vivacious... More

We were very pleasantly surprised when we went to the Tucumcari Historical Museum. The museum is full of wonderful history of the area and of pioneer life. Will be happy to go every time I am in Tucumcari.

Found a pub listing my mother's family as Pioneers in the area; before Statehood Was a Headquarters originally for the Conches Dam Project in the 30's!
