Tour starts with a 20 minute film from a History Channel program to introduce you to Kit Carson. Very interesting man. The museum is small but has some interesting artifacts. The house is an original home of the Carson family and each room has a bit of family history and a sketch and description of how each room would have... More

I would have like to have seen but got back from Santa Fe past 5 and they were closed. Everything in this little town closes at 5 except the restaurants. Taos was a major disappointment to me.

My boyfriend was excited to stop here and see the history surrounding the area of Taos. The museum is small but clean and well kept. The experience was made when the lady up front told us all about the family and the experiences that could have potentially been done around the home. She made the trip great!

This was a nice & informative museum & the last home of famed western guide, Kit Carson. The normal price for entering is $7.00, although if you get to town early enough & can take in at least five museums, a ticket for five museums can be obtained for $25.00. The entry cost is also free to Masons & affiliates.... More

Let me start by saying that I think the admission is a little steep. That said, the museum is well organized and has a sense of genuineness about it that gives you a pretty full and complete story about Kit Carson. Be sure to look around outside and go to the cemetery where he and family members are buried. There... More

As a tourist, I have some "completion anxiety" and like to see as many tourist sites in a town as possible. That drove me into this site. Save your money; this site is not worth the current price of admission. The information about Kit Carson did not seem particularly informative or well-presented to my wife of me. I think you'd... We were here many years ago. This home and museum is improved as more of the home is now opened and a good movie greets visitors. Good brochure guides through the house. Kids and masons are free. Cemetery is an easy 2 block walk--easier than driving.

I'll admit I was a bit ambivalent to paying the $7 per adult to visit Kit Carson's home and museum. I am glad I got over my reluctance. I have only vague recollections of stories about Kit Carson, and visiting the home and museum, and in particular watching the 20 minute video, gave deep insights into this man. The home... More
