we had heard the name Kit Carson just as one has heard of Buffalo Bill. But, do you actually know his story or contributions to frontier society? Awe stayed at Inn in the Rio and the Kit Carson Museum was recommended by the Innkeepers. We were very happy with the suggestion and I would say you need to take the... More

We were a little disappointed in the artifacts, but the video we watched was very good and made the visit worth the time. We are both history buffs, and we learned a lot by stopping at this museum. We would recommend it if in the area. Afterward, we walked to Kit Carson Park to see his grave, and that was... More

Watch the history channel DVDS to get the story of Kit Carson. Otherwise e house is a bit disappointing. Dark displays with captions difficult to read. Not too many Kit Carson artifacts there.

We love loved the museum and the movie! We only wish it went on to tell what happened to his children, especially the daughter who went to St. Louis. It's a must see! Great history.

Kit Carson's Home & Museum is definitely a must see in Taos. It's not very big, but it is packed with history. The courtyard is beautiful and depicts life in the 'west' during Kit's lifetime. Enter thru the gift shop which is filled with books, gift, and jewelry. The tour starts with a 20 minute film about Kit and his... More

So the big museums are in the big cities. Some are free. Some are free if you are a resident, a student, a senior. And so we have the same in Taos, a very small town with a lot of small but invaluable museums. I went to most if them but it took me years to get to Kit Carson.... More

Although this was Kit Carson's home, it is set up more as a museum about him rather than what his home was like when he lived there. It was very worthwhile to visit and learn more about the "real" Kit Carson versus the legend of him.

The video was very good and it made the visit more enjoyable. They have a wonderful collection of his "stuff". The Gift shop is nice with some very nice jewelry. Amazing old west home.

As a child I remember reading a lot about Kit Carson . Because of this we decided to walk to the museum. There is a 20 minute good movie which was made for the History channel. The gift shop is quite nice with many items of the west and unique clothing and jewelry also. You do. Not have to pay... More

Home and museum not very large. Be sure to watch the DVD about Kit Carson. The DVD is from the history channel and has a relative of Carson play Carson in the DVD. Does not take long to view the house. Not too many rooms and even if you read all the information on the walls it will not take... More
