The home of a true American western hero! You learn about the man and his family, walk in the home where he lived with his young Spanish wife, view his personal documents and belongings. Competent, skillful and multilingual, Carson was a significant player in America's western expansion. I bought a couple of books at the gift shop which were all... More

The small house/museum has the usual artifacts, some good quotations from Kit Carson and illustrations about life at the time. Best was the video which showed a more balanced picture of the man. The museum attendant was also excellent.

The small museum offers an introductory lecture explaining the adventuresome Kit Carson. Inside are rooms containing his artifacts and photos. Fascinating story of this famous man and his family. Also, a great little gift shop!

Free for kids under age 13. Senior citizens only pay $6. A short film available at the first of visit. The house and courtyard are small, so there is not a lot to see. Overall, it was a good museum. I recommend Fort Garland. Has more to see.

Very old adobe home of Kit Carson. Some interesting items on display and you can tour the few and small rooms of this humble western home, right in the heart of the historic part of Taos and their plaza. I little dusty and tired looking, but the people running it are very nice and dedicated to preserving the history there.

The museum is easy to find located in Taos. They show a short film and it is interesting, but the Museum is small. Cost was $7.00 US dollars.

My partner loves history of the Wild West, so he loved this. Not my passion, so I would be inclined to give three stars instead. The staff was nice; the movie was interesting (Kit Carson's great grandson "acts" as Kit) and informative. It is a very small museum with some interesting photos and artifacts.

Kit lived here, but as a visit it didn't have much to show. Highlight was a history channel video that didn't reference the home or Taos. Watch the video at home and skip the museum.
