It was wonderful to find out the history of Kit Carson. We grow up with Cowboys and Indians hearing many story's about the Wild West. The video narration on Kit Carson was good. The information on his family and his life was fascinating. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

Kit Carson shaped the westward expansion of the US during his early life, served the Union keeping the Confederates from taking New Mexico, coordinated the creation of indian reservations, and was the epitome of a public servant/hero. The museum needs more funding to properly tell his story.

Grew up in the glory of old west cowboy movies and have been interested in western history since. Very interesting movie and then on to the relics and artifacts. Learned many things did not know about Carson family. If you like history of old west pioneers this is a good place to spend an hour.

There's a cute shop out front with a wide range of interesting books, I also bought some cute, kitschy gifts for friends and family back home. You pay $6 for adults to get in, $5 for seniors and $3 for kids (my son is 8). They play a movie at the beginning of the museum, it was a little long... More

Kit's home (Taos has grown up around it) has been rebuilt, now housing several relics of his, alongside examples of frontier firearms, clothing, furniture and photography. The displays' information sheets could have used an editor, as several misspellings tainted what could have been a more professional installation. We learned quite a bit about this lesser-known American.

Quaint little museum that gives you the story of Kit Carson in a house once owned by him. There is a video showing some of his history with photos, etc. A gift shop with nice sculptures and books about Kit Carson and the area, plus other items.

I had completely forgotten the story of Kit Carson until we went to Taos and I saw Kit Carson Drive. We visited the museum and I was taken back to my childhood and the old western books and movies. I love the video with Kit Carson's great grandson playing him. It was interesting. The museum is well laid out and... More

Didn't know Kit Carson had a home in Taos. The short video was interesting and the docent that was there was very knowledgeable and helpful. I would recommend stopping here and learning a bit about Kit Carson.

The exterior of the house is not of much historical value. There's no attempt to re-enact or recreate much or educate. The inside is a gift shop, movie theater area and then three preserved rooms. The movie is one of those History Channel type movies, somewhat shallow. The rooms were interesting, but I came away not having learned much in... More

we had heard the name Kit Carson just as one has heard of Buffalo Bill. But, do you actually know his story or contributions to frontier society? Awe stayed at Inn in the Rio and the Kit Carson Museum was recommended by the Innkeepers. We were very happy with the suggestion and I would say you need to take the... More
