Almost every water tank in Las Cruces has a giant mural all around it, reflecting the local geography, history, animals, and people.

Loved driving around town and seeing all the decorated water tanks. Some of them are hard to get to. But you still get good shots.

As one drives through and around Las Vegas, what could be eyesores become works of intriguing art. We watched as the newest water tank was transformed from a huge piece of infrastructure into a cylindrical mural of accurate history. A great investment for the community.

I never thought too much about the water tanks as being an attraction, but I have to confess that I admire them every time I pass by, so they must be. There's a little area history on every one and they are all well done. Take a look at the art on the bridge underpasses while you're in LC. The... More

Since I live here in Las Cruces; I get to enjoy the Southwestern Art work each time I drive past a water tank alongside our Interstate Highways! I have traveled east to west and north to south and never saw water tanks with art scenes on them representing local history! My compliments to the one with the idea as well... More

Artist is Tony Pennock. We love these. Used to live in Cruces and still drive down from Placitas, NM to visit and eat the best New Mexican food in the world. There is one on I-25 near Fort Seldon l and one near Alamogordo as well. Truly beautiful works of art by a great artist. Here's a link to an... More
