Nice murals, better than plain water tanks

You drive by these. There's one visible from both I-25 and Triviz. You can park a few cars near that one and there's a long walking path there (parallel to I-25 and Triviz). Lots... read more

You drive by these. There's one visible from both I-25 and Triviz. You can park a few cars near that one and there's a long walking path there (parallel to I-25 and Triviz). Lots of people walk, run, etc. there, sometimes with their dogs.

Paintings on water tanks? I'm all for brightening up concrete shells but an attraction really? Just look as you drive past and you get the idea.

We drive by these all the time, but it is so nice to see them (rather than metal or grey painted water tanks). Not long back (perhaps a year ago or so) they were repainted (same scenes, just touched up). The one on Triviz Drive has a small parking lot and access to the running path.

Big boring water tanks. Imagine those dotting the desert landscape. Not here. The tanks are covered with beautifully done murals that reflect the geography or history of the area. They make the daily drive around town much more enjoyable. There is one just east of Las Cruces (proper) that is close to the Johnson Space Center by the Space Murals... More

passed several on our trip from Las Cruces to Hatch. What a great way to dress up an otherwise boring (eyesore) part of the landscape.

I live right below one of these and look at it every day. It's unique in a way, and they're just plain neat and fun!. They show various historical characters or events that occurred in southern NM, and should be appreciated. Not necessarily for their artistic merit, but instead for simply being a small representation of the history of the... More

I never realized that people thought these were some type of 'attraction'. These 1-million gallon water tanks have varying designs from the Wild West to Space, the Final Frontier. Not worth making a special trip, but just take a look as you are driving by.

The Water Tanks are always a pleasant sight to see as I travel around the city. The murals were done with care and are part of our landscape.

I don't know who came up with the idea but they are great. They appear to be fairly unique to Las Cruces and I do not know anyone who doesn't love them.

Usually seeing water tanks is boring, but not in Las Cruces. They are so interesting. Each one has a different theme and make you think of all the history and geography of the area. Just drive around and enjoy!
