The Fountain Theatre reopened in early March. It shows non-mainstream films and most are very good. The showings are 7:30 in the evening. They service, coffee, desserts and wine and of course popcorn. There are small tables and chairs at the back so you can sit and enjoy your treats or regular theatre seating to enjoy your film.

100 year old murals line the walls. they basically play foreign films the one we watched was french with subtitles but they do have some in English. Awesome atmosphere. I'm definitely going back if I'm ever in the area.

This is a very old, historic theater in Mesilla, NM. It shows a variety of films and most films run for a week. The films could be foreign with subtitles or very edgy with thought and emotion provocation. Once a year, they have a film festival. You will walk into a small theater with wooden seats and seats/tables to the... More

The oldest adobe theater with hand painted murals. In need of restoration, but the organizers present some of the edgiest and interesting flicks in the State.

Yes, it is quirky. Yes, it is hot in summer and cold in winter, inside the theatre! But, the staff are super friendly, prices are cheapo, films are art-house, seats are comfortable, and it has character galore. And, there is an equally quirky wine bar just across the street, so you can discuss the movie afterward. The building itself is... More

This lovely old adobe theater in Old Mesilla has different films each week - independent and foreign films, typically - and a wonderful volunteer staff. Popcorn is excellent, too.

Those of us living in Las Cruces consider this the piece de resistance of the area -- something not to be missed, if only to walk into and step back in history. In addition to interesting movies shown, the ambience provides the comfort of enjoying a decent coffee and cake, sitting at a table if one's lucky enough to get... More

Actually, it's Theatre rather than Theater. Silent films, dance companies, plays, vaudeville have been at the Theatre. Full disclosure: I'm a volunteer with the Mesilla Valley Film Society which has been operating the Fountain Theatre since 1989. Theatre screens foreign, independent and documentary films. If you're not interested in a movie, come in to see the murals painted by a... More

You can see some really good indie flicks at this theater and the prices are more than reasonable. If you go in summer you'll need a fan to survive the heat (swamp coolers are worthless) and in spring, fall, and winter, you'll need a sweater or a parka! Still, the movies are worth it. Be sure to eat at Emilia's... More

I really enjoy going to the Fountain Theater. They have a great selection of movies- foreign and very unique. The main seating is wooden and very old yet not uncomfortable. Seats and tables in the back are great for groups to not only watch the movie, but drink great coffee and have homemade desserts. They also have film fests a... More
