Owner description: The Giggling Springs Hot Springs is located at the site of the earliest Bath House in the Jemez Springs area, and before that, the mineral water was used by the Native Americans of the area. Our water comes from deep beneath the Valles Caldera (ancient volcano) up the mountain. It is ancient sea water abundant with a relaxing and therapeutic blend of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, silica, sodium and more. The source is 139 degrees F, but the pool is kept at a comfortable 102-104 degrees. The water is natural, and no chlorine or chemicals are added. We use ultraviolet light, ionizers and an oxygen inversions system to disinfect the water, and it is a flow-through pool, so the water changes out regularly. Swim suits are required, children 14 and over are welcome, and, for the comfort of our guests, the number of people allowed in at one time is limited--so reservations are recommended.

A lovely spot. Very clean water. Helpful staff. Like limits on number of soakers and nice spot by river. Recommend 2 hour soak.

My husband and I visited this place and we loved it! The trip there, up the Jemez Trail, was an unexpected, amazing treat! By the time we reached the place it was storming! We visited the shop and talked to the guy working there. The shop was full of cool things for sale, and the guy was really great! He... More

Dear Crystalyn, Thank you for taking the time to write a nice review. Summer storms can be tricky, but most pass within a half hour and is one of my favorite times to soak. Regarding the water temperature, there is a sign at the pool that guests can turn to ask to make the water hotter. We are sorry if... More

My friend and I stopped here on our way from the Albuquerque airport to our hotel just north of Santa Fe. It was great little side trip! The pool was lovely and in a very peaceful setting. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. At one point, we turned the sign to turn up the heat, and the waterfall started... More

Dear Denise, Thank you for coming to visit us. You were definitely here at one of the prettiest times of the year. Our water has calcium, magnesium, iron, silica and potassium. We have never had any problem with silver tarnishing, or hair color problems! Actually, no one has ever had any negative reaction to our water...that's pretty cool! We hope... More

We spent Halloween weekend in Jemez Springs, one of our rare weekends near to Albuquerque where we live. It's out custom to go much further every weekend, but we decided to just go relax and rejuvenate in the hot springs close to home — we are so glad we did and that we discovered Giggling Springs! Staying right next door,... More

Dear Marielle, Love the title of your review! Thank you for the great description of the Giggling Springs. We are very embarased...I mean embarrassed about the misspellings on our shirt! I don't know how it got by us. Tell your friend that the most collectable coins are the ones with imperfections. We will make the corrections on our next run,... More

My sister and I got lost trying to find this place....but it was worth the effort! Jim, the host, is super-friendly, the facilities clean and the water is divine!! The price-- $18/hr--seems high; however, that ensures a great soaking experience--in fact, we had the pool to ourselves! I've soaked at MANY commercial and primitive places the area, and REALLY enjoyed... More

My friend and I we're visiting New Mexico from Texas and stayed in Albuquerque. The hour drive from Albuquerque was beautiful, so much so that we stopped twice to take pictures. Driving through the mountains was a a little challenging as it began to rain causing rocks to fall from the mountains and creating some streams on the road, but... More

The pool is nice, large and clean. The location on the Jemez river is good. I was alone for the first 30 minutes, after that there were about 12 people in that one pool. There is no shower to rinse off after you finish, unless you pay $5 extra.

Thank you for your review. We're glad you found the pool to be "large and clean" and that you had the bonus of having it all to yourself for half an hour! We do limit the number of people allowed in at one time, so unlike many places, you don't have to soak with 100 other people. As for the... More
