It represented a good history of Deming, a good display of native artifacts and a good collection of days gone by- tools, photographs, clothing and how people survived. Deming at one time was believed to have become the Chicago of the South with the merger of 3 railroads. There was pretty good display of veterans memorabilia and a few antique... More

Enjoyed touring this two story mostly volunteer run museum in an old armory building in downtown Deming. Admission is free yet donations are appropriate for the many different displays quite professionaly presented - including Mimbres Natives artifacts, theme rooms (Hispanic, Medical, Local History), and an amazing array of rocks, in particular, thundereggs and geodes. There is a well stocked Gift... More

We were directed to this museum by a local vendor at the Las Cruces Farmer/Craft market and I am so glad we took his advice. After a very friendly welcome by a well-informed museum volunteer we journeyed into the past through the many descriptive displays. I particularly enjoyed the Mimbres exhibit that left me in awe of the amazing art... More

The folks of the Deming area are keeping this wonderful building alive with donations from their estates. I especially enjoyed the Albee and Avon Collection. The docents are wonderful and very accommodating. A great little gem in the middle of the desert.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and had read the good reviews on Tripadvisor, but were still blown away by how much the museum had to offer. You can definitely tell the community cares about this piece of history and have done all they can to make it a staple of the community- and they have surpassed that!! There isn't... More

Spent a few hours this morning. This is a donation museum and a awesome job compiling and arranging this museum. A must see. Plan at least several hours or two trips. A very nice gift shop with local craft work. Loved it.

I've visited museums all over North America and found this sweet little museum interesting and charming. There are displays on the pre-history and history of the region, as well as numerous art works. The place was sunny and clean and fairly well laid out. My main interest was in their collection of Mimbres pottery. They have a good-sized collection and... More

The Deming Luna Mimbres Museum in Deming, NM was a pleasant surprise. We've been in Deming several times but never went to the museum. We were greeted by a friendly volunteer who told us about how the museum was laid out and gave us a map. There is not only the usual historic items about the town and the area... More

This museum is amazing for all it has in it, how well it's cared for and the volunteers that make it happen. From Mimbres pottery to a fantastic doll and children's toy collection to a walk through downtown of store fronts............You get the idea and there's a lot more. Don't miss it.

We have driven through Deming several times but this was our first time to stop and explore. "Museum" does not adequately define this collection. Not only does it provide a perspective into the history of the native people who inhabited this area from as far back as 1100 AD but it is a diverse showcase of Americana. Everything from well...
