The C & TS is a narrow-gauge steam train operating between the towns of Chama, NM and Antonito, CO. I recommend taking the morning bus out of Chama (a one hour-five minute ride) to Antonito and then riding the train all the way back. You get a marvelous diversity of scenery and go through two tunnels and one very tall... More

It was a fantastic experience. Words cannot explain how wonderful the train ride was. From the time we got to the station until we got back to the station we were pampered. We decided to spend the extra money and ride in the parlor car. It was well worth the extra $$. The parlor attendants were so nice. Fruit, muffins... More

We took this train trip the end of May 2014 from Chama, NM. The shades of green this time of year are incredible! The aspens were full of chartreuse leaves. I would imagine the trip would even be more beautiful in the fall when the aspens are golden! The ride was fun and worth the time. The scenery was beautiful... More

Having been on the ride several years ago, I knew what we were missing when the windows frosted over and weather turned frigid (in august :-(. The food at the midway point was as good as i remembered and there was plenty of it! If the weather is good expect an excellent adventure!

As the train leaves Chama, it climbs up a steep grade to the Cumbres Pass Station. The steam engine then takes on water at Chama. The views are incredible as we make our way above and through several mountain valleys. We pass through a number of crossings and are often greeted by crowds of people watching or taking photos of... We take the train every other year. Always in the fall and the fall colors are incredible. Been on it at least 5 times now and will again take it this fall. We're in the area every year late September to early October. Not a prettier time of the year. Food is not bad at Osier and have met neat... More

We rode the bus from Chama to Antonito. It was a scenic and comfortable ride. We then rode the train back to Chama. The scenery was nice. We stopped at the halfway point for lunch. It was typical cafeteria food.

This is one of the best Steam Train's. Beautiful scenery, great people working/running train. And the food was great.

We took the mid-priced car, which had chairs we could move around so we could get the best view. As a couple, we would have preferred the two seats facing each other (with a table in between) on the right side of the train (we took trip #5 from Chama to Antonito) but those seats weren't available when we made...
