We went to Chama with the express intention of riding this train, and were not disappointed. The scenery is beautiful, the service is wonderful, the lunch served at the mid way point is great, and the train itself is a real treat. This is a great experience with history and some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. It takes you back in time and is an adventure for kids regardless of age (I'm 59). We did the Cinderbear Express trip in July 2009 with three kids. We all loved it! It was a shortened version of the regular trips (a little more than an hour each way) and was the perfect length for little ones. We rode the motorcoach from Antonito to Chama and returned by train... tourist class. My husband and I took the bus from Chama to Antonito and rode the train back. The entire trip was fabulous - my husband isn't usually enthusiastic, but he RAVED about this excursion and was all smiles.
