Description: The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one...
The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one of the best sunken ship wrecks in the world! If you come to Bali, you absolutely have to dive there The liberty ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo then was beached near Tulamben. In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water. The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.

We did around 6 morning and night dive here. Using wide angle and GoPro to capure many footage. Wow, every dive is so great...I can keep on diving and diving if I have a longer vacation. However, as long as I finished all dives in the wreck, I found that I still not yet approach the Front of the wreck.... More

The thing to do and see when diving in NE Bali - easily accessible wreck at roughly 15-30m that has turned into a marvellous coral and fish habitat.

Early morning still dark and the dive guide has the torch. Finning towards the wreck and a dull shape seems to be above. The torch is on and all that's under the toppled over stern is seen. Agung crystal clear on the return boat ride, from down there to up there.

This is most dived place in Bali, but it still offers a lot! Good for divers of all levels. If you like macro photography, don't just dive in the wreck, explore the nearby divesites, there is a lot of interesting marine life in Seraya and Melasti. Definitely stay at the Liberty Dive Resort for best logistics.

Great diving spot but a very busy one too. Too many divers around. Try a very early dive or a night dive for the best experience. Great visibility with a great diversity of marine life. Big fish, gropers, giant mantis shrimp, cow fish, box fish, octopus, big barracuda, turtles , Rays, lion fish and much much more. Nice restaurant close... More

Very special diving spot! One dive is definitely not enough to explore the wreck. Sunrise dive is amazing - its' the best time to see giant fish. Night dive is out of this world! Try to do as many sunrise and night dives as you can - they are the best!

Fascinating wreck that's had several decades of sea life cover it. Excellent for groupers, stingrays, stonefish and (if you're lucky) turtles.

Easy to reach from the shore but good booties with a thick sole are highly recommended. Easy penetration, rich fauna and flora. A few tens of dives are required to "learn" the wreck properly. Unfortunately often overcrowded by divers unless you start very early in the morning (between 5:30 - 6:30 am...).

Be sure to dive this many times, and include early morning for the bumphead parrotfish, mid-day and night dives.
