Helderberg is know for its Concerts in the Open Air and there was a very good natured and happy atmosphere as everyone picnicked and drank some lovely wine. Group was excellent but only sang a few well known songs.

I was a bit disappointed when we visited this site last week. Looks a bit run down and not looked after well. Maybe I just expected too much, will go back to try the hiking trails.

Fantastic walks among the fynbos with little paths winding up the mountain and with little streams running through it. Beautiful and safe place for a casual walk or a good hike.

I am not vey fit but we took it slow and got up to before the rocky part and sat on a big rock to have our picnic. The view from there is breathtaking. It was well worth it. Going down was actually harder because it is very steep, but just take it slow and stop on the convenient benches... More

You can spend some energetic time hiking the mountain trails and taking in the views, remember to take plenty of water with you, or you can have a gentle stroll around the lake with its bird life. The typical South African vegetation is interesting and at certain times of the year very colourful. A wonderful display of current flora is... More

A great evening to relax, enjoy a pin in and some wine while listening to some nice music. Wonderful family atmosphere and a reasonable entrance fee. Go if you can

The reserve has a wide variety of walks and hikes - you can stroll round the lake on a boardwalk, take a variety of walks in and out of shade or you can flog up the mountain on longer, difficult hikes. Beware of the heat on the latter. Good bird watching early ad later in the day. Plenty of places... More
