Helderberg Nature Reserve is very well looked after. It has a great picnic area and also nice hiking trials. There is a coffee shop for young and old (for those without a picnic basket). For a normal any-day outing in good weather, this is the place. PS: My four-year old son and I enjoy the trial around the dam.

The Nature Reserve is a haven of tranquillity, only half an hour from Cape Town and offers both easy hiking trails and for the more adventurous, very challenging hikes. The views are breath taking, without even having to walk too high up the mountain and easily managed, with benches strategically placed for a rest and to absorb the peacefulness and... More

We did a lot of sightseeing and a fair bit of walking during our trip to Cape Town however the Helderberg Nature Reserve had to be my favourite place that we visited! The walking trails are absolutely beautiful and so peaceful with some amazing views. My husband and I aren't exactly hikers but we really enjoyed some of the walks... More

Helderberg is know for its Concerts in the Open Air and there was a very good natured and happy atmosphere as everyone picnicked and drank some lovely wine. Group was excellent but only sang a few well known songs.

I was a bit disappointed when we visited this site last week. Looks a bit run down and not looked after well. Maybe I just expected too much, will go back to try the hiking trails.

Fantastic walks among the fynbos with little paths winding up the mountain and with little streams running through it. Beautiful and safe place for a casual walk or a good hike.

I am not vey fit but we took it slow and got up to before the rocky part and sat on a big rock to have our picnic. The view from there is breathtaking. It was well worth it. Going down was actually harder because it is very steep, but just take it slow and stop on the convenient benches... More
