Meiringspoort is just spectacular and is one of those places not to be missed if you are in this area. The rock formations are mind blowing.

Don't expect Niagara Falls - as the Karoo is far more subtle :) Nonetheless the sight of this waterfall tumbling down a craggy rock-face into grotto-like pools below is spectacular. The water is freezing cold so don't expect easy swims. A pox on all those who come to spay-paint graffiti on the rocks and likewise to them who leave cigarette... More

We were there just after some heavy rain and the water was flowing nicely. It is a lovely place to visit and the pools are inviting...even in winter.

The waterfall itself isn't that spectacular, the drive however is really something special. Must be one of the most scenic in SA with the mountains folding around you as you go through. A must do somewhere on your list of places to see.

Meiringspoort is one of the most beautiful scenic drives in South Africa, IF you haven't drove through it, do it the next time when you are in the Karoo.

I always love driving through Meiringspoort - it is relaxing and offers absolutely beautiful scenery all the time. The Meiringspoort Waterfall is a must-see. This is a great stopover point for a picnic and maybe a swim (if you're brave enough!).

This waterfall is nice to see and is a favorite place to "hang" for swimming and sun bathing. The water fall itself is not extraordinary, but it cannot be seen in total from the road.

We adore waterfall's and the Meiringspoort Waterfall is one of the easier one's to access. It is only a short 200m climb from the parking area, and definately not a difficult climb either. The waterfall is beautiful ice cold and definately worth the trip!

Breathtaking waterfall plunging into a deep and very clear pool which then cascades down into lesser pools and waterfalls. One warning - the water was cold!

What a wonderful place to have a swim on a sweltering day! The falls are beautiful, and the icy water incredibly clean. The rocks under the water are slippery, but hey, this is not a public swimming pool. The facilities at the restrooms at the bottom are also very good. Well done to the local municipality for a great effort.
