The boat held about 60 people. It leave Hout Harbor and goes about 3 miles around the point to some small islands in very heavy current that is hone to 100s to seals, or as the locals call them "Dogs of the Sea". The seals are jumping, riding the waves and barking. The ships captain really know how to position... More

Drumbeat Charters is a charter outfit that offers boat rides to Seal Island, a small clump of rocks about 20 minutes by boat from Hout Bay. The charter boat is a basic, clean no-frills ride out to see lots of seals, some of whom are awake and playful. The boat also has drinks and light refreshments available as well. Book... More

The ride on the boat was fun, as the closer we got to Seal Island, there were more waves, which made the ride more fun as the waves beat against the boat. There is plenty on seating inside and on the front deck of the boat. You should sit at the front deck for the best view of Seal Island,... More

Quick trip to the stinky seals was a lovely end of the day treat. Good value for money and we got very close to the seals. Bar on the boat was a great plus too

There are multiple Seal Watching Boat operators at the Harbour in Hout Bay, they usuall go every 30 to 45min so just see which one fits your schedule. Price wise they are all around 50-75 ZAR, if you go for the higher priced, its likely that your boat is less crowded, which we can recommend if you want to get... More

We couldn't believe how cheap it was to go on the boat ride. It was lovely to be out on board the boat and see the Sentinel, the Hout Bay harbour disappear around the corner to get to Seal Island. Took lots of pictures, loved it and recommend it highly!

The boat trip takes you out of Hout Bay along the side of The Sentinal hill and stops at Seal Island and continues on around duiker point to the Shipwreck. The trip lasts one hour and I felt it was... More
