Amazing setting, well presented food. Both of our food had flavours we didn't think worked. Perhaps we had expected too much after all the recommendations we received on this place. Menu expensive for quality. Very good waitrons. Will not rush back unless for wine and snacks.

Not been here since the facelift. They have done a great job. Really nice atmosphere. Staff are very nice, and the food was good quality. Would only ask if there should be a few lighter options on the main course menu. As there appeared not to be too many salad options. But overall was very good and would rush back... More

This is one of the grand wineries of The Cape. It's almost ostentatious or elitist in its attention to detail in the interior design of the environment. No expense has been spared to craft both a fine dining and wine tasting experience but I would caution the experience is delivered on an industrial scale. For me this winery lacked one... More

Needing some exercise after too much good food and drink during the first half of our stay in South Africa, I asked our B&B host to recommend somewhere to take a walk. How lucky we were that she recommended La Motte. My husband and I had the most lovely day doing the full La Motte experience. We took the 5km... More

This Wine Estate was the only one open in Franschhoek on a Monday (something I hadn't expected so may be worth considering for planning purposes!). The wine tasting also finished at 5pm sharp. The wine selection, the wines themselves and the setting were fab. We had a rather disinterested server so the experience could have been better but other servers... More

We have visited many wine estates in Italy and in South Africa and I can honestly say La Motte is a piece of paradise on earth! In the shadow of the mountain and close to the charming town, Franschhoek, the tranquility and beautiful facilities took my breath away. We had a lovely Sunday breakfast in the restaurant and a stroll... More

La Motte is certainly one of the most picturesque wine estates the Western Cape has to offer. Service is friendly. My food was inedible and I subsequently left hungry. I returned yesterday to try the advertised hike. I was asked to pay for the hiking permit; this requirement is not stated on their website and necessitated an extra trip to... More
