The La Motte winery is beautiful! As soon as we parked we admired the vines, and the beautiful Cape dutch architecture of the buildings. The tasting room looked like the lobby of a top hotel, and as it was raining outside, we settled next to the open log Fire for our tasting. The assistant was really knowledgeable and told us... Well organised wine tasting, ended up buying a bottle, which should be a good indication. Charming servitors, quality wines.

This is my second time at La Motte. The grounds inside looked a little less kept than last time, and for some reason the shop and deli inside were closed. Across the river the tasting was superb with a great guide who provided us with two glasses, a napkin and a breadroll. Several good wines at a reasonable price and... More

My wifw and I visited La Motte whilst touring the garden route. We tasted several of their wines, all of which were very good. It is a good way to pass an hour away. The wine tasting was free. We bought a bottle of Pierneef at 115R and a bottle of Millenium at 70R. In yotal 185R (£10.50) for two... More

We have not eaten here, but return each year for superb wine tasting (and buying!!) by knowledgeable staff in (indoor) settings that would not disgrace a top 5* hotel. Grounds and attached free museum really lovely, museum surprisingly interesting even for a non arty type like me. Menu looks good but not tried.

We spent a great afternoon at La Motte. Yes, you go there to taste the wine (or have a meal or whatever) but there are other things to do too so it is a real experience. The whole place is so clean and beautifully decorated yet very welcoming. We were able to walk there so did not have to worry... More

First stop of the day on our Franschoek winery day. Beautiful setting, lovely little shop and restaurant. Very pleasant staff and a lovely wine cellar. Good wines too. There is a fee for wine tasting, think it was R40 but this is deducted from wine purchases, even if you just but 1 bottle so well worth it.

One of the most beautiful vinyards in the area. Sitting either in the garden under oak trees or in the restaurant with the open kitchen is wonderful. The food was superb from starter to main. A reservation is strongly recommended.

What an awesome farm to visit! A definite must for any wine lover. The wines were fantastic as well as the insight given into each wine we tasted. The lady that served us was very well informed and helpful. It's also a beautiful farm with a great little farm shop, museum and restaurant.

So good was our visit to the estate that we look forward to our case of wine arriving soon. Gorgeous drive up to the visitor area through the vines and statue silhouetted against the mountains. Lovely tasting area. Interesting range of bouquets. Thank you for not charging for tasting after I purchased some wine. I left happy and a tad... More
