The staff here made the wine tasting pleasurable and memorable , the wine was also good. A rustic charm that brings character.

This was the last stop at the end of a long day of wine tasting on the wine tram tour and also after the Dieu Donne winery with its wonderful Roco Restaurant. So basically it started off as an anti climax. The venue is very rustic and tranquil set along side a cool stream with large tree ferns. Rustic to... More

After drinking Chamonix wines for some time now I thought it would be a good idea to visit their estate. The drive up to the tasting rooms was stunnign and the facilities looked great too. Such a pity the service let them down terribly with a 'take it or leave it attitude' . Bought their Troika but only two bottles... More

With the many choices available in Franschhoek for wine tasting the staff were very rude and told us they were closed because they had no clean wine glasses. Never again.

At Chamonix, we bought one bottle of their Pinot Noir. The sitting area was very comfortable. The wine was also excellent. At Chamonix, I forgot to turn off my car lights and my car battery was dead by the time that I got back to my car. Chamonix was kind enough to call for a person to jump our car.... More

The tasting room itself is a little dark. The staff are a little 'hit and miss'. The tasting itself is at the high end of the price range for the area at R50 (and you don't get this refunded on a purchase!). We managed to convince the staff (not an easy task!!) to allow us to bring our wine tasting... More

After a long wait in a dismal cramped courtyard (Black streaks on the wall) we were given a tasting that seemed to have been recited from a script. Questions unanswered. And nearly twice as much as other tastings just to add insult to injury.

Just don't go there... The wines are ok... But overpriced for their quality ( subjective of course) ... We had a plate of cheese which was 95 rand for 4 measly slices ... This is insulting... Plus 20 rand for basket of hard dried bread... The charcuterie platter was ok though... There are plenty of better wineries in the area... More

Despite good recommendations and accolades, we were quite underwhelmed by our recent visit to Chamonix. Wine tasting was R50 per person - on the upper end of the range of most places in Franschhoek, but not unreasonable. I was disappointed, however, to learn that the tasting fee isn't waived if you purchase wine. While most of the wines I thought... More

We had our first dinner in Franschoek at Mon Plaisir at Chamonix. Season was just beginning, so the restaurant was not very busy, which worked grandly for us. David, the owner, guided us through tasting dishes, superb wine choices, and the best bread (uh oh) ever! Then, he joined us for conversation and dessert. We had our wanderlust, our hunger,... More
