Good food spoilt by arrogant and inept service.

Won't be on my visit-again list. Part of a largish group who had booked a picnic under the oaks. It looked like they were unprepared and not really keen to have us there. It... read more

Won't be on my visit-again list. Part of a largish group who had booked a picnic under the oaks. It looked like they were unprepared and not really keen to have us there. It seemed to be a case of take it or leave it. The other posts on this site seem to suggest this is a reoccurring problem and... More

Certainly could be one of the grand estates in southern France to look at, with a beautiful garden and sculptures (great elephant by the entrance) and some interesting art in their gallery (but very expensive). The buildings are immaculate and it certainly lives up to the Grande part of the name. We didn't eat, just visited for a wine tasting,... More

Another example of South Africa's ability to shock with its affluence. How did they get like this?I seem to have not noticed S. African wines until 10 years ago and now they're fabulous? But the estates are very old.

Firstly I must say this is a beautiful winery with lovely outdoor sitting area, however we did not enjoy our visit due to very slow, inefficient service. Firstly we ordered sparkling water and a coke. These never arrived. We requested the wine tasting and eventually the server arrived, he was rushed in pouring but slow in coming back with the... We visited this establishment on Christmas Day. After having a wonderful experience the evening before on another estate we were looking forward to this. Firstly we were give three different menus and not the correct one for that particular day. Food was lovely but very slow. The staff seemed confused and not very interested. We had to request our water... More

If you like French style and art then visit Grande Provence. Interesting garden statues and an art gallery and all beautifully presented.

A beautiful setting, an elegant winery and an Art Gallery and sculpture park. We were shown outside and offered a table while the staff member went a brought a list of the wines available - three choices. But service was slow and almost incomprehensible - I thought I had the premium range, but then saw the prices were low. So... More

Terrible service, attitude and prices. only saving grace is the beautiful garden. Shame. At least the gallery has some interesting art - but only for looking !

Tasting of only 4 wines which they have the nerve to call "premium" was very poor and disappointing, 50 rand for for a few sips of wine, the white ones not even cold. We also got a so called cheese platter, which consist of a few cheeses still wrapped up in paper like you just picked it from the super-market... More

The estate on which the restaurant is, is spectacular. Sitting under the huge trees sipping cherry while the sun is setting in the distance is good for any soul. The art gallery was opened and had some interesting pieces, at incredible prices. The restaurant is very elegant and intimate. The service was good, but felt a bit under staffed for... More
