I had been looking forward to coming here. I know the wine is average, but I'd always wanted to visit the estate since I'd heard it was beautiful with an amazing restaurant. Coming here was very disappointing. The wine tasting experience poor. The gentleman just filled our glasses & disappeared. No talk on the wine or anything. Especially after the... More

Beautiful winery with a very romantic setting. Great wines pared with white and milk chocolate. Simply elegant!

We booked a picnic at this winery and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The location and picnic were superb, the staff couldn't have tried harder to make our visit memorable.

Beautiful estate and great scenery in the surrounding areas. The cellar tour was interesting but unfortunately I am not a huge fan of wine! We were only shown around the red wine cellar as they do not produce much white/rose.

I think the sommelier said that this winery was the second oldest in South Africa, and it feels it (in a beautiful grand old way). The oak trees are beautiful and it is good to wander around what you can of the grounds. The wine tasting was the most professional and most organised of all wineries we went to and... More

I am a big fan of the Shiraz and was excited to see where it came from but was sad to see small areas of empty fields where vines had been sacrificed for property speculation (now being replanted!) and also to learn from our guide that a lot of the grapes were coming in from other farms. No doubt this... More

This was our 2nd winery of the trip as it was like entering a French chateau. The gardens were gorgeous and the 4 course lunch, although buffet style, was absolutely divine. What a lovely afternoon we spent there

On a gorgeous summer's day, who wouldn't enjoy a picnic with top wines, linen table cloths and a view you can only dream of from your office desk... Indeed, this was thoroughly enjoyable, but it's clear that franschoek's oldest winery trades off its reputation and location when it comes to picnics. We found the food was lazy and unimpressive..potato salad... More
