Scary, twisty road! But views spectacular, and plenty of places to park up for photos. Also saw baboons on roadside.

Franschhoek is a beautiful wine town located in the Western Cape Province. It is about 75 kilometers from Cape Town. There are many restaurants and cute shops to visit as you walk through the town's center. There are also many opportunities to do wine tasting at the many local vineyards. We had a private driver take us to Franschhoek which... More

Recently my wife went for a nice leisurely drive through the Franschhoek Pass. The majestic mountains and beautiful lakes provide, arguably, some of the most spectacular scenery in the Overberg region. It is a fairly long drive, so one needs a few hours to spare but one comes away truly inspired. Highly recommended for the stressed up townee! And on... More

Do make the effort to go up the pass. The views from the top are truly stunning, getting a view of the valley and surrounding mountains.

It really is stunning. Just remember you have to contend with cyclists and large trucks and there is very little space. The views are just awesome

This is a pass well worth traveling. The road between Stellenbosch and Fransch Hoek, is very scenic with the mountains, vineyards and olive groves.

The pass is VERY twisty and one should really take care and drive it quite slowly. But the scenery is quite spectacular! Make sure to stop for a picture on one of the look-outs! Tip: Take the N2 from Caledon to Cape Town up to the road stall outside Grabouw. (Via the Houwhoek pass). Drive from Grabouw (R321) pass the... More
