The drive is best if you take your time up or down the pass & then stop along the way at the various viewing areas & capture the breathtaking views across the town of Franschhoek to beyond the surrounding winelands. Be careful of the baboons along the pass who will come to view what you have in your car. A... More

Mother Nature has been extremely generous to that beautiful valley of Franschhoek. The most breath taking place to experience the whole valley is from the Franschhoek Pass. Once you are up there you get to see spectacular scenery both over the valley, but also in the Easterly direction of the Two Oceans. The mountain range is also worth the visit... More

If visting or staying in Franschhoek it is well worth the short drive up the pass. The views of the valley and village give a different perspective on the area. The mountains are magnificent. Be careful with the slow wagons and the tight turns.

Worth a 10 minute drive from Franschoek. Watch out for baboons on the way up! Great views of the valley from the top and from a few pullouts along the road. Not sure if there's anything on the other side of the pass -- we just stopped at the top and turned around.

It is not a big deal to drive just out of town to get the view below of the town from the mountain top . There are pull overs. We only discovered on our drive out of town. It was breathtaking. We also thoroughly enjoyed the drive through the pass , Not difficult in clear weather. Next time, I will... More

Great view of Franschhoek from pass, but never be in a hurry to cross the mountain. Lots of turns and if you have a slow moving truck or sightseeing tourists in front of you, rather go slow because passing another vehicle is nearly impossible.

The franschoek pass is a short drive from the hugenot monument in franschoek and the gateway to the wonderfull nature reserve at the top of the pass. If you dont like hiking the pass provides an unincumbered splendid view of the valley with a few stops on the way. If you do like hiking, dont miss out on the Du... More

Drive it both ways, the views are so different. I came through the pass from the south east, so as you came out the other end then the whole of the Franshhoek valley was laid out in front of you.

There is a stop about halfway and the view is amazing, it looks out over the town! The vegetation around you just sets the scene better.
