We actually rented a villa just below Franschhoek Pass (Franschhoek Pass Villas). The drive there over the pass was spectacular and we enjoyed the same view from our villa for several days.

We took this route, from Franchhoek, which was along way to Capetown...close to 2 hours drive. The scenery up the mountains and looking down Franchhoek is so beautiful. It's worth the driver

At the top of the pass is the Mount Rochelle Nature Reserve which has a number of spectacular walking trails through the fynbos, anything from 1-6 hours. Fairly rugged, go prepared. Permits are necessary; available at the gate (if open) or from Franshhoek tourist info centre.

Drove completely through the pass from Franschhoek and had to keep stopping to enjoy the views. Also whilst staying in Franschhoek we got up early on my birthday to enjoy a glass of fizz and breakfast up on one of the top viewing points to watch sunrise, unfortunately the low cloud come in so missed seeing it and had to... Beautiful drive to get to Franschoek. You can stuck just look at the views. Stopped and walk around. Nice antiques shops. The pancake house is just as good. From the city centre. This is an awesome Sunday drive out.

The pass is a must drive. One of the most enjoyable drives. Well maintained road, with spectacular views. Great photo stops along the way. The reward of FRANSHHOEK at the end/beginning.

It may sound geeky, but in a country so full of natural wonders, I still count the Franschhoek pass as one of the great experiences. Just take your time, dont rush but enjoy. Stop, take in the ever- changing views. Smell nature, watch out for eagles in the sky and small gazelles ion the steep slopes. Listen to the water,... More

We went up from Franschoek one day just to get the view, then another day drove back from Hermanus over the pass. Sure it is a winding road but proper width, newly surfaced so no issue at all. Great views at the Franschoek end, better than the other so you get the best with a trip out and back from... More

We've been visiting the area for years but had never been over the pass. It was worth the wait! Wonderful views and plenty of places to stop to enjoy them.

This road can only be described as magnificent. There is no better way to enjoy views of the wine country. Every time we go 'round a bend, we say ahhhh.
