The staff in our hotel recommended driving up the Franschoek Pass to see the views across the valley. It was an easy drive although there are some quite tight bends on the way. The drive is enhanced by the opportunity to possibly see baboons as well, especially among the trees on the lower slopes. The views from the layby at... More

Stunning. The whole vally can be seen in one dramatic high spot. It is also a scenic backdoor and little used road down to the N2 and the rest of the garden route eastwards. Take your camera.

Wind your way along the pass and you will see the most gorgeous views as you glance around you. There are some superb restaurants on the pass and the drive is well worth it.

The only way to approach Franschhoek is to do so from the Pass. It is about 750m high so the views are stunning. There are lay byes so you can stop to admire the views and take photographs. A travel time of 20/25 minutes can be expected depending on slow traffic in front of you as most people want to... More

The views over the valley are beautiful and the mountain drive is easy, short and really good value! There are plenty of places to stop and park in order to enjoy and take photos. When visiting Franschhoek this is a "must! There are always baboons. Never open your car, they might get in to you.

Take the tour from Capetown over Simonstown and Hermanus direction to the wine region. If you like alternate topography with a great final ... than go for this. The Franschhoek (= French Corner) shows French roots ... enjoy and don't miss it!

The views from the stopping places along the Franshhoek Pass are breathtaking, and its free. There are quite a few stopping places on the side of the road where it is safe to stop, take in the view and take photographs.

Took this pass from Franschhoek in the direction of Hermanus, and a week later from Robertson to Franschhoek again. Saw it 2 times from another ' angle ' Beautifull quiet, easy road, lots of places to stop and enjoy the scenery.
