We were staying in Franschhoek for a week, visiting various wine estates and decided to take a look at Mont Rochelle. It was a bit disappointing really. Seemed a bit unkempt compared to the other beautiful wine estates in the local area. Not much in the way of gardens to wander around. I've heard the accommodation is very good but... More

I love so many things about Franschhoek, not least the food and wine. Still, as wonderful s those are, a long hike to Uitkyk, past Breakfast Rock, was the highlight of this visit to Franschhoek. We had a sunny but windy morning to do it. Views are stunning! Wildflowers in bloom.

There are a number of fabulous hiking trails in this beautiful reserve. Quite a stiff climb but you are surrounding a magnificent mountain scenery.

Lovely wine farm, the staff in the farm require more knowledge about the wines but the setting is lovely. They could offer so much more.

Gorgeous location. Nice view. We did two types of tasting, good wine. It's is newly decorated and it is very pretty. Our wine taster was very good and helpful, very polite and well informed.

This reserve is situated on the outskirts of Franschhoek. It is ideal for a day hike, or when snow has fallen. Beautiful vistas from the top of the mountain.

Five of us started at 08h15 from the parking area of Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve to Perdekop. We walked the route in an anti-clockwise direction and came back via the Uitkyk Route It was a gradual steep climb all the way to the peak. The views were stunning and it keeps on changing. The view over Wemmershoek dam was really... More

Spent a great couple of hours one morning hiking up round to breakfast rock and the vista. Good solid track. You walk through well established proteas and fynbos with large numbers of Birds . Take a pair of binoculars. Fantastic views from the top over the valley towards Cape Town. Well worth a visit . We finished this off with... More
