Five of us started at 08h15 from the parking area of Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve to Perdekop. We walked the route in an anti-clockwise direction and came back via the Uitkyk Route It was a gradual steep climb all the way to the peak. The views were stunning and it keeps on changing. The view over Wemmershoek dam was really... More

Spent a great couple of hours one morning hiking up round to breakfast rock and the vista. Good solid track. You walk through well established proteas and fynbos with large numbers of Birds . Take a pair of binoculars. Fantastic views from the top over the valley towards Cape Town. Well worth a visit . We finished this off with... More

A group of 10 of us hiked up to Breakfast Rock and then on to Uitkyk, where we were all absolutely overwhelmed by the awe-inspiring views in all directions. Admittedly the weather was glorious, which added to the pleasure of the hike, but we all said this was one of the most wonderful hikes we had ever done. The proteas... More

Such great diversity in plant life in such a small area; great amount of fynbos species and with the best views you can think of, wow!

You need to buy a permit first from the tourist office in town, which is easy enough. The views and walk was lovely, although there was a little lack of signs, so make sure you know your route, there are several different routes depending on the amount of time, the map you get online is the same one you get... Second time in Franschhoek and finally we walked the du toittrail in Mont Rochelle nature reserve. A beautiful and well maintained path. Easily to find your way. During the climb the view change all the time. You don't have eyes enough and you have to take your time. When we walked the trail , it was very hot. So keep... More

The reserve is easy to find and very accessible. It is advisable to collect your permit in the town at the tourist office as the ranger on site was on patrol and not there when we arrived. There are a good selection of hikes for 30 min up to 8 hours. It is also possible to mix and match a... More

Easy to find the entrance but trails could have been marked more clearly. The paths are pretty stoney and hight of steps vary - you need to have good walking boots on this route.

Hikes of varying length to suit all walkers in stunning surroundings! It's very close to town too so you can get there very quickly.
