Great Nature Walk

Although fully not recovered from Sandy, Still a beautiful place. I have not gone this year yet and hope the Museum is open.

This is a little Ocean County gem. Several trails so unless you're on a main trail you may not see anyone. Flat and easy to navigate for anyone. Dogs on a leash are welcome. Dogs (or anyone else) are not allowed to swim but if you're discrete you can get away with it. It's so hard to find a spot... More

The park has very nice hiking trials, beach, picnic tables, and plenty of parking. The Cooper Environmental Center was severally damaged during hurricane Sandy. Plans are on the way to rebuild the Center. The Pinelands has strict environmental rules, and that is good. The whole idea is to preserve the Earth, so patience. Meanwhile, enjoy and support the over 500... More

A rare surviving slice of nature in the over-developed Barnegat Bay area. Great for hiking, bird watching, nature hunts, and teaching your children The Jersey Shore isn't just boardwalks and arcades. Just watch out for ticks.

Despite the damage from the hurricane - still a great place to visit and hike with kids and dogs. Flat for trail runs along the bay.

This park has it all: pleasant walking paths, varied landscape, a variety of flora and fauna, lovely scenery, play area for the kids. I'd like to see hand sanitizer in the portable rest rooms.

Unostentatiously located behind a run-down strip mall, this gem of a park offers stunning views and an amazing cross section of local flora and fauna tucked within the confines of it's borders. Cattus Island has been a park almost exactly as long as I've been alive and I've been a regular visitor since before I could walk. Great for relaxing,... More

Had a lovely walk to the very natural beach area. Easy hike, nice firm path (I wore sandals). The butterfly garden wasn't really in full form this early in the season (June), but was under way. The nature center was closed (since hurricane Sandy) with no definate time to reopen. Some of the wooden paths were also closed. Bikes had... More

Our family visited Cattus Island Park. I did not know what to expect, but I was happy with the outcome. There are many long and short trails for walking and exploring. Some of the trails have grasses way over your head so its fun!! Always something new just around the bend. Bicycles and pets are welcome and we didn't have... More
